Just realized I forgot to configure my network drivers for Minecraft after updating them. Let's try that again...

How'd it go? Any problems?

I've reverted back to this plan after epic failage.I'll run the server on my laptop overnight to confirm that it works fine on Linux (it did before). From there I'll look into the possibility of installing Linux on this system and hopefully that might fix it.

It loaded a little funny, and the doors didn't cooperate. But after the first few hickups, all was well. I explored both of the man-made places, but I eventually got a time-out error. :(Aww, I missed bumping into Tony when he was online by literally 5 seconds.
How'd it go? Any problems?
For some reason I was afraid to start building anything. I don't know why... I probably will next time I connect, though.

This is known bug with the server software at the moment. I think there's a workaround that I'll try implementing tonight.
If I get my uni work finished in time tonight then I'll install Linux and see if that fixes the time outs.

Yeah, I've encountered the same problems playing on other servers. I think the slowness is due to the time it takes to download the map information from the server. Over the Christmas holidays I plan to upgrade my internet connection and quadruple (or maybe even octuple) my upload bandwidth. It took an odd amount of time to load the surrounding landscape. Perhaps I only found it odd because I am used to playing single player. It also seemed to have to reload some of the already loaded areas a few times. However, once it finished this, loading seemed fine. Even when exploring.
For now, though, I'm still focused on resolving this time out problem. It's frustrating to know that on any other machine it would function perfectly fine, that I've just lost the great hardware lottery and ended up with the wrong network adapter. Luckily absolute fixes are fairly straight forward and inexpensive, I'd just like to get the satisfaction out of fixing the problem myself without having to change the way I do things.

I'm going to work on this for the next half an hour and then put the server back up before going to bed.

Still a little buggy though. Little annoyance like; destroying a block only to have it reappear (Never drops either), try to place a block and have it disappear (only in certain areas...), and getting stuck on a corner/ledge and having it keep placing you back to where you were.
All I could easily get around. i haven't done much yet.
What's the difficulty set to Bean?

Were the bugs you encountered persistent or just occasional? Did you manage to destroy and collect blocks or did that just not work at all?
