I'm nearly ready to start building... just got a little more leveling to do. Yes... Yes...

I'm glad you're getting to that stage. It's where I'm kind of at. Unlike you and Spaz I haven't really explored any tunnels and come across oodles of fun resources like gold and diamond. I barely even have any Iron because I'm mining into a mountain that's so high.I do seem to have picked an interesting corner of the world.

I'll start mining further down over the next few days. My brother is back in town for Christmas so I'm going to try and convince him to try Minecraft and our population will have increased to 4!
I have a couple of other friends too who would be interested but they're reluctant to pay for internet (because they're N00BS!). Hopefully I can convince them and we'll have a population of 6.
From there the next step is global domination.

I'll try to restore the server before you guys are likely to log in so hopefully you should still be able to play tonight.
I'll try to set it up so that when the server is down my avatar on this forum isn't displayed. And when the server is up it will be. I haven't implemented this yet so don't assume that cause you can see my avatar that it's working just yet.

I'll establish a warp point for the library and any construction I undertake will try to adhere to the aesthetic sensibilities that you have already established. Because it already looks phat, innit.
Good work!

Notch is apparently working on making fully functional books that can be written in. I think it would be great if our library was actually a working collection of knowledge. Eventually I envisage being able use the library to store heroic journals of our Minecraft feats and to provide access to maps of the land.
For now there is this excellent mod that enables this kind of functionality and I'm seriously considering installing it on the server.
Thoughts?
EDIT: The more I think about this idea the more I can imagine myself spending all my time developing an intricate and imaginative lore that details the origins of the server and its users within a fantasy/minecraft style language.

No, I nothing I can think of has inspired me. Maybe unconsciously. Frankly, as far as architecture goes, I live in blandsville U.S.A., and sadly don't travel often enough. Mostly my ideas come from expanding on things that I see other people make, then making mistakes with my own buildings, and improvising solutions. I said my library was a "work in progress," but it will likely always be just that. I'm kinda weird like that...

I would really enjoy this. On Ivince's server I have already considered such a thing.EDIT: The more I think about this idea the more I can imagine myself spending all my time developing an intricate and imaginative lore that details the origins of the server and its users within a fantasy/minecraft style language.
