I see what you mean. I don't like at least half of 'em. But some of 'em...

I'm ALL over that sea turtle. The archeopteryx below it looks pretty sweet too. But right under that is a literal pile of WTF. While that terrier makes me lol.

Also, why do we need monkeys?

The zebra evolves into a badass. Did not see that one coming.

the centipede is probably the coolest bug type yet... except perhaps scyther. oh, and then there's that bug/knight thing. not bad either. Ho shit! that spider is pretty damn good too. wtf? normally I hate bug types cuz they're so terrible!!!

And the little dragon dinosaur evolves into... well, the pokemon version of Destoroya, a foe of Godzilla's. and that dark steel type reminds me of jet jaguar too.

I'm liking the hydra dragon.

I agree somewhat with Mael. Many of them are "meh," several are "bleh," but there are enough awesome ones that I'm still looking forward to catching them all...sans event-only legends, of course.

And I will concede, not all the Pokemon look horrible. Grass starter is okay, the crocodile is cool. Like I said earlier, I like Emonga and Chilarmy. I really kind of like the dog's last evolution (and the dog in general) and the Zebra Unicorn. Kurumiru and it's evos? Pretty alright. And I love sea turtles, so the sea turtle is pretty cool.
But for the most part, all of them either look boring or just so god damn convoluted and ugly (and just so god damn bland, somehow) I just can't stand them. Like how somehow the gear got even stupider as it evolved. Or the extremely boring fighters.

And the legendaries? Argh. They all look dumb. Reshiram/Zekrom or whatever they're called, look the best, and I didn't even much care for them when I saw them. Those flying legendaries are just ugly, and that water fighting unicorn thing...just makes no sense. None of those weird fighting legendaries make sense to me. Meloia looks so out of place in Pokemon.

to me, it's not as if they're boring (d/p takes that), they just seem very out of place. if pokemon ever had a largest 'jump the shark' moment, it's probably now. i'm generally pro-pokemon, but i'm kinda glad i'm not getting b/w.

Fewer than last generation, actually.

Plus, there's three trios in this one... And then three events. So there's really only one miscellaneous legendary, as opposed to the like four or five last time.

too many trios. specially those elemental djinn looking ones. wtf. seriously, so many are just so damn out of place for pokemon it hurts my brain to look at them. =(

What's worse is that there is such an obvious difference in art style and design for these Pokemon...it just all looks...iiiiiiiiiccccky.

For the time being, I'm trying to pretend that this is a new series that happens to play exactly the same as Pokemon. Seems like they're trying to start fresh since numbers 1-493 won't be available until you finish the game.

That said, it looks like Water may lose its standing as my favorite type in this generation. I am not impressed by most of them. Conversely, Bug and Ghost, two types I never payed much attention to (barring Scizor recently), have a number of interesting representatives. Not all good, mind, but interesting none the less. And I love the croc even more now that I'm not worried about its evos being lame.
