despite the fact that i can just hack the air, i get into the combat, where oblivion for me was about exploring and running around this huge world made just for you. i think oblivion was really made to sell skyrim.

I think Lazlo is right.

I never really was able to play Oblivion until after Skyrim came out, and when I finally did it was just a huge pile of disappointment. It's not as refined as Skyrim is, and it's not as charming as Morrowind. I don't know if nostalgia blinds me towards Morrowind, but I still find it to be a respectable game for what it is. It really has some kind of magic to it that Oblivion and Skyrim just don't have. Skryim's strengths are in it's gameplay, and Morrowind's is it's world. Oblivion tries and fails at both those things and it just feels like a lesser game than either.

Definitely doesn't help that we went from houses made of giant mushrooms or giant crab shells to generic medieval not-Europe between Morrowind and Oblivion. Skyrim may not have mushroom houses, but at least it has Dwemer ruins.

I've said it before, but now Minecraft is actually LEGO. Kinda.

Some of you probably got an email about this, but the Steam controller is available for pre-order, and doing so gets it to you several weeks early.

I'm excited. I find the people with negative opinions about it kinda silly. If it works as intended, I can easily imagine it making living room gaming with some games much easier.

Me wanty.

I'm just a little disappointed with how they've changed the design of it. It was really unique when it was first announced, now it looks just like any other controller, except instead of joysticks you get touchpads.

I've said it before, but now Minecraft is actually LEGO. Kinda.

Except the Lego version is cheaper and seems to have better editing tools (IE: it has editing tools). I wonder if it supports unofficial servers.

I disagree. In think adding the joystick was a good idea, and will be useful for more modern games. I don't consider it a replacement for keyboard and mouse, but as someone who frequently uses their PC for TV gaming, I can easily imagine several games this will now allow me to play in my living room.

That reminds me, something that completely slipped under the radar for me was the Steam Link, which honestly sounds like a great investment for someone like me who likes to once in a while play something on the big screen, but doesn't want a PC in the living room, and the price is actually incredibly reasonable, considering a minimal HTPC costs twice as much, and it's much cuter than a Raspberry Pi. I'm surprised that I hadn't heard anything about it until the Steam Controller launch, but I'm considering getting one.

Edit: (Also, I should mention that I'm still excited by the Steam Controller, and plan on getting one, just that I'm not as excited as I was when it was announced)

The steam link is a big interest to me, too. If it makes it so I don't need to lug my giant cased PC up the stairs whenever I want to play in the living room, it's going to be awesome.

My PC is already wired to the router when it's downstairs, but I don't current have a practical way to run a wired connection to my living room (which is basically on the exact opposite end of our house from the router). I'm hoping our network latency can hold up, otherwise I may have to go all wiring up this bitch (and by bitch I mean my house).

I haven't used it but Powerline Ethernet adapters would be helpful.

You know, I've known of that tech for a long time, but completely forgot about it. That could be brilliant.

Not sure what the difference is like in your place, but I've had pretty good luck streaming between computers in my house. Your mileage may vary, since your router is in the basement though.

Aw, Tony your videos explore individual games and how they encourage exploration. Extra Credits is nice to explain different types of 'discovery', but you give each game a spacial look.

Each video you have put out has one game with a certain type, or types, of exploration. Not only do you shed light on the type, but you enlighten the audience to how it works and how it can help game play.

Don't let one video get you down. You know, as well as anyone, that exploration in games is commonly talked about. You have your own unique way of showing people that. Keep moving forward, do your best, and you'll inspire yourself and others. It's worked out so far. I enjoy it and hope to keep enjoying it.

Why be upset that Extra Credits already did it? Simpsons did it first, anyway.

It's disheartening. Working on an idea and fine someone else has thought of it/done it, it can suck. As if your own obstacles weren't enough. Now that you see someone else do it you get drawn back.

I doubt he's hung up by it, just sad that a regular channel he watches did.
