i jokingly told a cute girl working at gamestop that i was going to pre order it and take sooooooo much lsd. she laughed. i half laughed. if it comes out and is well reviewed, i'll re-up and go for a ps4. i'm well past the point where i'm comfortable sitting for hours playing anything, and i'm not sure if i really want to anymore. i'm starting to loose interest in gaming, and it's sad.

The only time I play for hours is if it's mobile and really captivates my attention (Persona, Bravely Default, Animal Crossing) or if I can play it with other people (Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Drawful).
I think I'm still interested in gaming, probably just not into the actual practice as I used to. Very few things really get me excited.

I went for a super long time without playing (m)any console games, and now it feels strangely refreshing to play stuff like Donkey Kong. I only play for about an hour at a time though. Then I either have to switch games or just do something else.

I was wandering the internet and found this game:
http://www.cross-code.com/en/home
Which I found pretty cool. You can play the demo on that site (it's made with HTML5).

That looks pretty awesome. I'll have to give it a try.

All of them closed within a year.
Admittedly, game stop has the advantage of being an established and popular store. But there is a reason they stopped selling classic games, which they once did. It just doesn't make any money...

Yeah, I think that's what the article mentioned. They'll take trade-ins in stores for a while, then start selling online after they build up some inventory.

The Misadventures of Tron Bonne on PSN.
I've never even been able to pirate this game properly. I am very excited to try it out now.

Grandia II is coming to steam.
A) Kind of weird Grandia isn't coming out to steam.
B) Kind of mad Lunar isn't coming, but it could just open the flood gates to it (and new Lunar maybe please?!?!).

That is what I wanted. I asked for Marth for Christmas because I thought amiibos would be easy and who cares?
Then I heard about Villager/Wii Fit Trainer/Marth going out of stock so I went quickly to a bunch of stores in my surrounding and found Villager and WFT just in case.
And now I just have a bunch of amiibos. But no Marth. Mainly because I refuse to pay scalper levels for an amiibo. Most I paid was $19 for a Toad amiibo import from AmiAmi.
Besides Marth, this was the wave I really wanted. Lucina, Robin, and Ness. I haven't been able to preorder any of them. Lucina and Robin because Fire Emblem = <3 and I play them most in Smash Bros. Ness because it's an official Earthbound memorabilia being released in America.
I hate stupid Nintendo anti-consumer practices like this.
It wouldn't bug me so much if these did nothing but looked cool, but they're also technically DLC and unlock things in games. Even if it's not super substantial and I'm not missing out on much...the fact that it's so hard to get something that is used in multiple games is frustrating.
Follow up. I fiiiiiiinally got a Marth amiibo. I lucked out and was able to snag one off of Amazon. It's was still damn near impossible though.

I'm very confused with myself for not recognizing some of this game's flaws when it came out 9 years ago. It's just that it's so... Bad...
The people look like monstrosities, the combat is horrendous (even when compared to the awkward combat of Morrowind. There are just too many meat sponges), the NPC dialogue is stupid when they are talking to the player, and even more stupid when NPCs talk to each other, and of course the level scaling is just plain silly.
And worst of all, there are no unique war axe weapons. Why the hell do swords and daggers get all the love? Geez.
How did I spend hundreds of hours with this game before? I just can't even...

Funny that you said Oblivion, when you were clearly talking about Skyrim.

Where Skyrim excels compared to Oblivion is in the environment and dungeons. The majority of the dungeons in Skyrim actually have a bit of storytelling behind them. It's true that they're not all interesting (considering the sheer number, that doesn't seem so bad), but they're a vast improvement over the samey dungeons from oblivion. And I am a firm believer that more linear dungeons with a quick way to exit at the end is a good thing.
But yeah, Skyrim still suffers from NPCs that are pretty dumb, and there is only one unique war axe weapon (that's part of one of the DLCs, and it's not great).

Oblivion combat also felt like a huge improvement at the time though. No more constant misses with a low weapon skill, the inclusion of manual blocking, and the ability to wield weapons and magic at the same time felt amazing after Morrowind. Remember switching between melee and magic? Remember how great that was? And as horrifying as NPC interactions were, Speechcraft was no longer based on random chance (even if the new mini-game for it was easy as balls), and you didn't have to worry about accidentally selling a stolen items you had forgotten about, then having a merchant attempt to kill you. Granted the level scaling always felt bad, but we've already established that none of these games are perfect. And as repetitive as the random Oblivion dungeons were, I recall many of them having quick exits, so that's not an entirely new thing in Skyrim.
Not saying that Skyrim isn't a huge improvement and probably the best in the series so far. I just don't hate Oblivion.
