You know what I really enjoy about this game?

It pretty much makes it necessary to develop every skill. I mean a few skills you'd never need to develop based on the character you're playing, but I have never really cared about Pickpocket/Smithing/Destruction/Enchant etc...but the game makes it pretty necessary to do well in the game, and it kind of makes it "fun" to develop the skills. Even skills I wouldn't use, like Pickpocket, I feel the need to develop solely based on one of its perks (the + 100 to how much you can carry). And I never ever used magic or bows in Morrowind, and I use them both a lot more often now.

Destruction spells are not so good for hunting while climbing mountains. Half the stuff I blast ends up flying off cliffs where I can't get to them.

how do i get more enchantments? i know i have to break enchanted thigs, but i cant find very many to break in the first place. all the ones ive found so far have been pretty weak.

I literally just figured out how to get enchantments (just haven't bothered until now). You just need to take an enchanted item to an enchanters table, and discover its enchantment. It doesn't matter how strong it is, because (I'm assuming) the strength of your enchantment will be based on your skill level and soul gem. I suppose there may be a way for mages to find more, but I haven't done been through any of that stuff yet.

You are correct. When you destroy a item, you just learn the effect it had, not the strength. For example, I tried destroying a ring with +20 to magicka, but trying to apply it to a new item with my low skill and a common soul gem was only going to give me +6.

Also, it looks like you can put certain encantments only on specific types of items. I could put the magicka bonus on gloves, a circlet, or a ring, but it wouldn't let me put it on my boots or a pendant.

You also are limited on what you can disenchant, which is kind of ridiculous.

I have this amulet I can't disenchant as well as all of the thieves guild armor.

Stars, do you know if you can like...reenchant items? Like enchant something and then if I feel like I can do better later enchant it again?

you would have to make a new item to enchant. i still havent found anything to use on my armor. is there a shield-spell like enchantment that raises my damage resistance? im not indestructable enough yet in all my dragon armor.

im kinda bummed at how short the mages guild questline was. i know oblivions was tedious, but it at least took longer than a day to get through.

I haven't seen anything with an "oak skin" enchantment so far. Most of mine will probaly be +magicka and +magicka regen once my enchant skill and soul gems are strong enough to do better than 6 points...

EDIT: Some mammoths just gored to death the bandits who were about to ambush me. Then they ran at me to do the same thing. O.o

just fought an elder dragon in a town where there wasnt any room for it to land. i had to use a bow the whole fight and it took almost 30min because my archery skill was so low.

Just went through Shroud Hearth Barrow near Ivarstead and High Hrothgar. I think that was the hardest an Elder Scrolls game has ever made me laugh.

just fought Alduin for the first time. he's pretty strong. there is a questline shout that forces dragons to land. ive seen a few that wouldnt.

so true especially dual cast chain lightning, the knockback from this is sooooo huge that I have managed to propel npc's through walls into the room behind it and even into oblivion.

yesterday while on my way to learn new shout I was ambushed by a dragon, but it could not do anything because i was in an area full of trees, so it flew away eventually, good thing too since I was not prepared to fight one at that moment (stashed everything in home and only had dungeon exploring essentials on me).

but it's fun blasting goats off mountaintops with unrelenting shout. and if a troll or bandit gang gives you the business, you can give them the business end of flying to their dooms. DOOMS!

Apparently Fus Ro Dah (the shout for Unrelenting Force) has become a meme. I'm not sure if I approve of that.

finished the main quest late last night. @Toyz- you'll get more than just the boring old aurora borealis. Sovengard's sky is to Skyrim's what the Shivering Isle's sky was to Cyrodil's.

I'm ashamed to admit that I was fast-talked into buying a strategy guide that I recently discovered I can't return. If anyone has questions (like what enchantments are possible), I can probably look them up.

To answer Kasper, it looks like the best you can do would be Fortify Heavy Armor, Fortify Block, Fortify Health, or Fortify Healing Rate. Perhaps Absorb Health on a weapon to supplement those.

i have a 9 and 10 point daedric sword combo, plus an akaviri katana that does 35 bonus on dragons. i havent seen any dragons since finishing the main story, so if anyone is going down that road with only two or three extra shouts, beware.

is there a good place to kill a wood elf? i need to off one and steal its blood for a quest, but can't find any without killing unnecessarily.

and a few bugs i've found-

guards will attack me for committing a crime, but won't take me to jail. running into some major lag, even on one-on-one fights. giving markarth to the storm cloaks fixed my earlier bug after breaking out of their mine/jail as a quest. i killed someone in the mages college while hidden in sneak, but it still popped up with the rejoining the college quest. and theres an article on ign about people's save files getting huuuge as thy play and save over their old file. that's about all i can remember right now. bethesda is releasing a cross platform patch next thursday to fix a bunch of things, so we'll see how it goes.

edit: found some dragons. killed them. the main questline doesnt turn them off afterall

If you haven't done the Thieve's Guild quests, there's one near Riften (west) in a place called Goldenglow Estate which can be killed without anyone caring.

Kasper, if you are the thane of any region, that region's guards will not arrest you for minor crimes.

i can get off by saying im a thane, but it only worked one time, same as bribing them. its just an infinite loop now with those options not highlighted anymore.
