/>heeheehee your character is cross eyed.

Actually, he's one eyed :p. A little hard to see from this angle, though.

not joking about the rom thing either, that was the general disclaimer on freeromz a few years ago

Yeah, it's bologna. They put it on the site as either a complete lie in order to make the site look legitimate, or because of confusion with the laws concerning creating back up copies of your software. Though I don't know if it still applies (Every game seems to have its own EULA these days), you used to have limited rights to make copies of your own games and software. You literally had to copy it yourself, and it was supposed to be for archival purposes or some jazz like that.

The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.

idk about that, i think it's a perfectly legitimate need. for one my sega controller is on its last legs, and for two the graphics look terrible on our tv.

Yeah, but need, especially imaginary need, does not make it legal.

according to nintendo, it's legal to make a backup copy, but i have to do it myself, AND the type of device that can do it is illegal to use....

and it's not an imaginary need at all. what would you do if you owned a cd that got too scratched to play? would you go and drop the money on a brand new one? or just burn it to a blank? if it's legal to rip music, why would it not be legal to rip any other type of media? concurrently, why is a ROM ripping device illegal, while a music ripping device legal?

circuit court smacks down the riaa on this very issue

edit: since you got it through Steam, you realize steam's eula let's them monitor your computer's processes right? that's the gist i'm getting from researching this, that they are allowed to monitor your computer to collect behavioral data.

edit2: the eula in the instruction book says i am entitled to use one copy of the product for my own personal and non commercial use. poo. how enforceable is such an agreement? it says if i don't agree to return it to the store for a refund, but gamestop won't take it back now. it also is implied that it can't be traded in, as the title and rights are non-transferrable, so were this a used copy, the eula would be voided

/>what would you do if you owned a cd that got too scratched to play? would you go and drop the money on a brand new one?

Yes, I would. And yes, I have

Intellectual property laws are pretty mucked up business. I won't argue against that for a second. Also, I'm not too fond of some of the legal issues involved with steam. But steam 1) Allows me to play games for cheap, 2) allows me to install them as many times as I like (there are some exceptions, but those are publisher rules, not steam's), and 3) Is uber convenient to use. All of the issues that some gamers have had, I have not. It is possible that one day I might, but until then, I will just enjoy the ride.

I'm not an anti-piracy nazi. More than anything, I pirate TV shows, but only because TV networks are so bass-ackwards that they don't yet understand that I will give them my money to watch their shows, but currently they charge too damn much. That's also why I pay for Netflix and Hulu Plus. I am always willing to pay for content first. If I can't get it cheaply or conveniently, I will likely go without. I do pirate, but only when the first two options fail.

i really like the idea behind steam too, and would totally support their cloud console if it ends up happening. just so long as i can keep them from spying on me.

allegedly, the eula also states that skyrim can't be modded, and it would also be a violation if the disc is broken, or damaged in any way making it unreadable. this whole thing sounds like a lot of fun to try and exploit.

so what would be a fun mod? i like the nexus' idea of cranking the dragons up to 11, and having dynamic npc's that will hunt bandits and fight trolls on their own. i also found a farming mod. i'd really like to see the SPECIAL from fallout, but thats way beyond my patience/ability. caravan protection could be interesting, or even a herding job where you have to drive sheep out to pasture and protect them from bandits or giants.

any suggestions?

so why does the legion have all this roman influenced armor and military name stuff? it seems like theyre going backwards since theyre not wearing full suits of heavy armor anymore. was tamriel really that much more dangerous back then?

They were Roman themed back in Morrowind. Somewhat.
Cyrodil was just changed into a standard medieval Europe setting for Oblivion.

New features in the upcoming Dawnguard expansion:
  • Two-sided questline, similar to the Civil War quests in the base game: join the vampire lord Harkon in his campaign to blot out the sun or join the Dawnguard to oppose him.
  • A new home base for each side of the conflict. Each one will offer new bonuses such as the Dawnguard crafting anti-vampire weapons for you.
  • Vampire Lord transformation with new powers
  • New perk trees for both vampires and werewolves
  • New enemies including legendary dragons, gargoyles, death hounds, and armored trolls
  • Crossbows
  • A new oblivion realm called the Soul Cairn, less fiery and more ghostly than in TES IV
  • Option to change your facial features in the Ratway (gender and race are locked)
  • Mounted combat (weapons only, no spells)
  • New shouts, including one to reanimate slain foes to fight for you
  • XBox players get it sooner...

Not quite a trick question. Honestly I thought you were a bot, before I checked your profile.

Bots aren't cool enough to play Skyrim. They're still stuck on the opening dungeon of Oblivion looking for robots.txt.
