you always start as a prisoner so that when you are inevitibly freed, it's more beleivable that your character can make a clean break with their old life, and begin a brand new one as the hero.

you awaken in the intestinal tract of satan. you must defeat the hydra to escape. your only weapon is righteous anger.

For some reason I've started playing again with a female character. I don't much care for the default armors for females, so I was looking through some of the mods and I have to say that I am saddened. Do people really want to play slutty looking female characters all the time? Really internet? Massive fail.

The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.

I like it a lot too. It's kind of cartoonish.

But I feel like actually playing with those graphics would give me a headache.

So I'm finally ready to give Skyrim a shot. I've even installed Windows especially for it and everything. What mods should I install other than SkyUI?

I wouldn't even install SkyUI. At least, I don't find it to be much of an improvement. Sure, the default UI is kinda bullocks, but once you get used to it it doesn't even matter anymore. SkyUI is only better in that it is slightly easier to use with a mouse. However, I wouldn't exactly call it user friendly.

Unofficial Skyrim Patch

Increased Bounty Rewards I use the "light" version of this, because it makes those randomly generated radiant quests actually worth your time. And yes, I do actually enjoy the radiant quest system.

No NPC Greetings. This one is almost a necessity. The people just kinda.... talk to you. All the time. No matter what. This helps a lot with that.

More Powerful Dragons I would fight maybe four or five dragons before installing this mod. But really, the dragons are pussies without this.

And... that's about it. i'm sure there are loads of gooduns out there, but I haven't really tried too many. The game is pretty great unmodded.

Yes, that's cool and all. But I was kind of wondering what mods you guys like to play with?

Oh didn't see your post there. Those are all good recommendations, installing them now.

So re-playing this on Expert is literally kicking my ass. I actually have to play this game like an old school RPG, where if something is too difficult, I have to (heaven forbid) level up before I attempt to fight it. Adding in the more powerful dragons mod I listed above... well... merf.

I'm using the excellent "Live Another Life" mod so I started as a bandit who had become disillusioned with banditing after a hefty bounty was placed on my head. Without a moment to allow sentimentality to cloud my judgement I boldly wandered down valley to see what adventures awaited me. Seemed to work just as well.

Also I want to brag that I am currently playing Skyrim on 42 inch flatscreen with lots of fancy graphics mods and it looks amazing. And I just discovered that hotkeys do actually still work so I am a very happy Bean.

Really enjoying it so far. It's like Morrowind but less good, but it's also like Oblivion but much better.

I have considered doing that exact thing, but then I remember that Borderlands 2 is coming out soon, and since the wife and I will be playing that together, I want to keep our computers in the same room.

It's like Morrowind but less good, but it's also like Oblivion but much better.

Sounds fairly accurate.

So just as I'm finishing up with this round of skyrim addiction, somebody cooler than I am does something cooler than I was doing:

I particularly like the bit that's all "bah-bling-blah-blomg... bah-bling-blah-blong". But I also like the bit that's all "ding-a-ding-dong(dah)-da-a-dah-dada-(duh)dada-da-ding-dah-da".

does anyone else think that the nords are a thinly veiled metaphor for fundamentalist christians?

edit: i came up with the idea on my own the other day, and just bothered searching it. apparently it had a gamefaqs thread about it last year.
