I think a dedicated server will always trump a server sharing bandwidth with a personal network. At times sadpancake was painfully laggy for me. The cost of this dedicated server isn't too much and I have no problem contributing money for it.

alright, ill send a request to upgrade to 5 slots today, just as Tony suggested.

- Went exploring a bit yesterday, found 3 amazing sites to build. One of them was totally BATMAN, if I happen to be near it again ill take a screenie and post it.
- Also walked along the mine tracks, looking good so far.
- While exploring I found several vertical landscapes that crossed each other.....so I build houses against the corners that they created. Don't know where they are anymore....it was too random =D
- Went back to my tunnels near spawn to see if anything changed in that area. Nothing changed...must have lost it's popularity.

- El Heffe: planted a few extra rings of saplings, but noticed that they die when around/too close to another tree....but I don't worry, as long as trees grow.

TheBinge is up to some crazy caper. He has this floating fortress thing going on. I warped over there and accidentally fell to my death. Because I have no idea where he is in relation to anywhere else I lost a couple of diamond pickaxes in the process :(

If no-one beats me to it I might cartograph us up a new map when I get home tonight. Should be interesting to see how much has changed.

I am gaming-computer less for a week or so since the wife and I are moving, and my desktop is already packed up and moved. I still have internets access with my laptop, but it doesn't play games very well.

Which is very sad, because I found an amazing place a few days ago, and started coming up with building ideas. Sigh.

Well it isn't exactly a dedicated server though.

I think my big problem with it is the fact that it's so limited...and we have to pay for it. Although, I don't know. Sadpancake could potentially be a lot better with all the new parts that is being bought for it, since if it did have failing parts, that could account for all the laggyness of it.

Oh, Tupa - I just saw your pyramid catch on fire. Apparently the lava seeps through the dirt at the top and causes problems if leaves grow over it.

EDIT: Also I tried to generate a Tectonicus map but it was looking like it was going to end up consuming more than the 40gig I have spare. I might fiddle around with compression levels or insert another harddrive to host it.

I feel this is a problem, too. I think a VPS is the best solution, with sadpancake a close second. Reason being dedicated bandwidth ftw. But meh~ I'll stick to whatever works for everyone.

Paying $2 per person isn't that much, and I agree about such a server being limited...but I haven't heard anybody say he/she needed something done that could not/may not be done (yet, time will tell)

VPS would indeed be the best option, but would cost a lot more. And the use of Sadpanckae isn't free either, for us crafter it was until now, but Hyper has to pay for the bills...some financial support would be nice i assume.

Furthermore, I only provided a possible solution for minecraft, by no means should this be taken as a permanent something. As I said in a previous post, whatever works best for us (taking in consideration all technical and financial standpoints such as freedom on server and previously mentioned points in this thread) is good.

sadpancake is actually BLU's server. And it's BLU's server for everything. I think he would fix it with parts no matter if we were using it for Minecraft or not.

Yep, and it's back up and running. Still have a lot of stuff to set up and configure, but I think the Minecraft part will be stable while I do other things ... so feel free to use it if you'd like. The sadpancake.com address should still work.

El Heffe is free for all to work on! haven't made a second/third floor for it but I figured this leaves it open to more building options like sky-box style rooms attached to the wall.

started working on a new semi-secret base of operations. found a spot where a vertical landscape with dungeon opening meets with a lake, resulting in an impossible wall of water that wont flow into my dungeon opening (below the lakes water level). Already build mah floor and walls, can't decide what to use as ceiling material....maybe obsidian or steel blocks.

I also repaired the nether portal at spawn. And my own nether portal in my near spawn tunnel complex is also still working.


Stuff do do list:

- complete base of operations
- start building at my AWESOME site (see previously posted picture), think I'm going to hollow it out and build a suspended tower of doom going right down the length of the mountain.
- Work on my maze (the one near my once secret base of operations until Bean found it. Near El Heffe)
- Build more random wooden houses at vertical 90 degree angled spots.
