Well frig, I finally sit down to get this thing going, and the hmod site appears to be down.

Go the fuck figure.

Special request:

Could one of you fine blokes with a decent internets connection do regular back ups?

Our new interwebs are more consistent than the last, so it seems to work well for gaming. However, the download and upload speeds leave a lot to be desired.

I don't mind doing the server updates, but doing the back up right now is taking FOREVER and is filling me with sadness.

If anybody else tries to get this working before I get it working, the important configuration files are being kept separate in the HTML folder for safekeeping. I was trying to get things working before adding those back in to the fold.

Did you back up the warplist.txt and user.txt and server.properties and stuffs, Tony?

I just logged on to update it and they've all been baleted in the updating process. World data seems to be nice and safe.

EDIT: you posted while I was posting so I didn't read that last post. I'll have a tinker with it now.

thank you Bean, Ax-pants and other involved parties!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Have started a new large scale project (might get way larger than El Heffe).

Don't have name for it yet, but it's basically a large castle on a mountain. all interior and dungeons will be a maze like structure.

preview:
Attached File  castle minecraft.PNG   335.26K   11 downloads

You can't see everything here, right behind me is a tower leading to the underground section of the maze (underground passages not yet done)

outer building progress would be around 12-15 percent about now (yes, it's gonna be that large)
inner building progress 0%

+ Tamed three wolves.
+ Named them Fluff, Flooff, and Peanut.
+ Started re-planting saplings on El Heffe.
- They started to grow while I was still working with them...
- I'm now tired and will work on it tomorrow.

Don't put saplings on the top few rings, 5-6...dunno. If any leaves hit the top 2 rings, they might catch on fire due to the lava block thats underneath......or you could move the lava block more down, either is fine (remember that El Heffe is free for all to build on now, for EVERYONE)

As of now I dont have any activities planned with friends, so I think ill be working on the new project today......still needs a name though.

edit: have a name for the castle. I will name it after this castle in Switzerland

I've been toying with the idea of using booster tracks on the minecart system. They're more exciting but they require a bit more forward planning.

Change in plan, going over to a friend, so no minecraft today. Also, I posted this with my new phone :-)

edit: damn, posting with my phone would be so much easier if my screen would be bigger. virtual keys are so small on 3.5"

also, I think I WILL play minecraft today....finally. As such, no update on Chillon (yet).

I have tamed a pack of wolves now! It's times like these that I wish monsters were turned on so I could roam the night with no fear!!

I want to start a new project, but not sure what...

In my personal experiences, lurking around for awesome geological sites almost always comes with a pair of good idea's. So my advice is to roam around for such places.

Chillon update:

- all walled sections are no longer open air, they all have roofs now.
- added a few new towers and bridges
- added a new floor to the main building, maxed out height limit for building in minecraft.

I'm glad warps are working again, otherwise I wouldn't explore! ><

Speaking of warps, you could try "heaven". It's a fairly random place, ideal for out of the box constructions.
