/>Guys... I have a confession to make.

I've tried out Minecraft in all of the demo capacities, and I still don't really get what's so awesome about it. Also, when I tried the single-player demo, I could figure out how to do anything besides climb stuff and place/destroy blocks. Is there a guide somewhere?

Building stuff is cool, sure, but what is so awesome about building stuff with lots of little blocks when I could build something in full 3D with my own imported textures in SecondLife? Clearly I am missing the point. Please inform me.

First off I agree with Kenneth. The demo on the sit does no justice to the REAL game.
As far as a guide goes the best I can think of is this: Minepedia
I think you either need to have the game or a hacked version to play on the server that we have for MP. I could be wrong on that.

You can play on our server using a pirated copy of the client. PM me if you have any problems and I'll try to help you out.

Of course, if you enjoy the game then I highly recommend you purchase it to help support the millionaire who coded it.

This means the server will crash next Tuesday and will be down until the monkeys on the internet fix it by flinging their poop at dodgy java hacks :(

Who created the maze of tupa?

I really enjoyed stumbling across that. I saw a weird structure in the distance from the top of my tower and thought I'd investigate. But I didn't expect it to go so far. I didn't even make it to the end. I hadn't prepared for that kind of adventure and Zombies soon ate my brains. I will return though.

I believe Tupa was working on it. I'm not sure it was finished just yet.

I'm working on something new. I'm not abandoning the library, but I guess it's on hold for now. If anyone wants to diddle around in there, go for it.

This new project is.. different.

I would like to recommend turning the monsters off. I personally prefer to have them on, but with how laggy the multiplayer is sometimes, the game turns in to about 50% building and exploring, and 50% waiting until it's morning again. And that is very sad for me.

This will still happen regardless of whether monsters are switched on or not... or maybe I misunderstood.

Was the lag always this bad?

Yeah. It's possible that it's just our ISP (we have what I call "hotel internet"). But I often had lag, especially when somebody, anybody, else connected.

Monsters turned off ... I think. Sorry about the lag, although there isn't much I can do about it. The box it's running on is also running 5 other services, so bandwidth is limited, especially as I need to keep some of it open for my family as it's just running off their home internet connection.

That said if somebody wants to play admin, I can give you SSH access to the minecraft user account thing ...

New smooth lighting and file format for smoother gameplay.

I can't connect to the server because I was silly and updated the game, but so far everything seems pretty cool in single player.

Just to give everybody an idea of the new lighting, I took this picture from the spawn point of a brand new single player world. i don't know how well it will come across in this shot, but I'm finding that it gives everything a claymation sort of feeling. I kinda like it.

Thanks by the way for turning them off. although now cows seems to not spawn often enough...

A question for everyone I was looking up what a 'seed' was for generating a world and I have a faint idea anyone able to shed some more light on the subject?
What I know: When you start up a new world you get asked what the world will be called and 'seed for world generator'. I found out that if you enter the exact same number that someone else has for their world you apparently get the same world. So I went looking for a number and wondered if you peoples would be interested in testing this out with me.

-2484616403790488353

Enter that in the seed generator and see what you get. My only idea to see if this actually works is exploring as much as you can then posting the world map here. I will post mine asap. (Still need to explore a bit.)

EDIT: On second thought I think I'll try this later. The program I was going to use, 'Cartographer', doesn't seem to be updated for Beta. So much for all that.
