i know windows 8 was supposed to be a mobile platform, but did they HAVE to program it on a Jitterbug phone?

That actually doesn't sound like a horrible idea. I imagine there are plenty of people who play with the 3d setting turned off anyway. Kinda wish it could still be folded shut, but they probably made it flat like that to help cut the cost.

Dunno that I want one for myself, but I can see what they were going for.

Why couldn't they just make a regular 3DS with no 3D? That would have been best.

As though making a new shell for it doesn't cost tons in design tests and setting up manufacturing. It would have probably been about $100 if they would have just used the existing molds. It looks awful, and unless it's super tiny, I can't imagine it being at all comfortable to hold. Plus enjoy your scratched up screen and mono sound asshole. Oh well, at least they put the Start and Select buttons in the right place.

For real though, did Nintendo just forget how to make good handhelds?

Ugh, the DS Lite was terrible, and kind of ruined the DS line for me. The original DS was comfortable and easy to old. I wish they would have continued making them like that with slightly larger screens (And better backlights)

the original and the XL are all like "HEY LOOK, THIS GROWN MAN IS PLAYING POKEMON, GET HIM!" i could put it on the book rest on a treadmill and walk for hours, and nobody ever noticed.
