I remember saying during the switch for the reward, "This is a brilliant move, but this is Survivor, who knows what this will change."
My grandmother said "That was fucking stupid."
It was a really dumb move to send Jeremy to exile I think, unless you have the express purpose of voting him out anyways, and I'm not sure Jon made the decision or if he did, that he was thinking that far ahead. A lot can be made of Jon and Jaclyn's play, but I really don't think they are that intelligent. It seems things fall into their lap, but aren't really a product of things they do.
I also wonder, but I mean, if Dale could start a fire using only his glasses, then I mean, who knows. We never will.
I saw the challenge preview on youtube before the episode, and that's what hyped me up so much for this episode. I love unique ideas, and I love the idea of a challenge that tests your core muscles after 20 days of struggling. I'm in pretty decent shape, and I'm good with my feet, but I think I'd struggle pretty badly with this challenge, especially toward the end. I might be overrating the difficulty, but when I think about all the core exercises I did over the years in cross country, I think about how excruciating it was.
I also totally called the winner of this one. As the challenge was starting, my grandmother said "It's going to be Reed." and I corrected her, saying "Nope, this one is all Baylor's." She thought I was insane.
Then Baylor won, and I could only shoot her the trolliest of troll faces. I don't know why I thought Baylor would win. Just figured she'd have the best control and balance, especially when you consider how she fared in the reward challenge. I think Baylor is a solidly underrated player. If not for Missy being on the island, I think most people would actually fall in love with Baylor. Missy is just fucking annoying.
I also hate when people go through other's bags. I totally thought it was against the rules, and not only to go through the bag, but actually outright TAKE things? That's awful. Why on earth is this allowed? I mean it opened the door for Reed to leave seeds of doubt everywhere. And I like Reed. But come on.
I've been saying this the entire time, but I think Jeremey is all bark and no bite. For a guy who is both a firefighter and a former athlete (I believe I heard that?) he's really not all that strong or athletic. Don't get me wrong, I think he'd beat me in a lot of things. But he is so whiney, and weak compared to what I thought he would be when I first saw him. Proof looks aren't everything.
Exile beat him to shit because he can't handle it. I fully believe that if it wasn't for his tribe mates, he'd be fucking dying out here. Two days on Exile turned him from Jeremy into the walking dead.
I am massively impressed with the stones on Keith. Massively. I don't know if he's thinking at all or what, but to not use your idol after it was flushed out? I get the feeling he doesn't quite know what he's doing, but boy is it working out for him. I honestly think Wes might go before Keith anyways.
The blindside this week was really that. A blindside. I thought in the back of my mind, "It'd be nice to get rid of Jeremy, but I only expect 2 or 3 votes against him, and for the majority of the votes to go Reed's way."
Then the vote happens, and it's neck and neck between Keith and Reed. Another vote Reed. "Well, that was fun..."
Then all of a sudden a torrent of votes for Jeremy.
And the look on both me and my grandmother's face rivaled that of only Josh on the jury.
That's a "big" move, and could be the one that gives Jon, Jaclyn, Reed, Baylor, or Missy a million dollars. Getting rid of a big threat like Jeremy THIS early is crazy. I know exile kicked the crap out of him, but he was still a strong social player, and as Cagayan proved in the previous season, you don't need to win a challenge to win a million dollars.
And to lose Josh AND Jeremy in back to back weeks? That's insane.
I'm really excited about next week. Jon and Jaclyn should know who else voted Jeremy (Reed, Missy, Baylor), and could cement a new strong alliance. Alec, Keith, Wes, and Natalie are in the air though and could split the alliance before it even begins.
I think Natalie is going to be a big player next week, her entire alliance crumbled. She's lost her go to guy (Jeremy) as well as her alliance mates (Jon, Jaclyn, Missy, Baylor). She is in the same position Reed was last week, and now has to make a move to stay in the game. I'd like to see her pull Alec, Keith, and Wes aside, and try to align with Reed to give them the numbers.
Also, is it just me, or did Alec say basically nothing this episode? I almost forgot he was there.
