I've mainly been working my way through Fire Emblem: Awakening. Trying to do at least one chapter a day. Probably won't today though...

I actually just beat The Bureau yesterday. It's a little too easy.

We've made too many compromises already, too many retreats. They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far and no further!

That seems to be the case. I am even playing it on the hardest difficulty. Though I lost 4 agents on the first mission, I haven't lost any since. Though I have died a couple of times. Once those magical space powers start coming along, even the tough enemies become pretty easy.

Finally made my way through Victory Road in Black. Time to take on the Elite Four...after a bit more training.

Just completed the main story in Black. I kind of want to gush about how excellent the conclusion was, but I think I may be a wee bit late to the party. xp

Haven't decided yet whether I'm going to continue straight on into Pokemon X or play something from my backlog next.

EDIT: On a related note, can anyone here confirm whether or not Black 2 is worthwhile (setting aside the part where I already have X)?

I think it is and could argue that it vastly improves upon B/W. I think the biggest thing about B2/W2 is just how long they are. I've only played thru it twice and I haven't even touched the post-main story stuff yet (although I did recently pick it up again). I haven't played thru it more times like other Pokemon games because it's bad though because it's really good. There is just so much go on and it takes so long to play thru properly that it's hard to replay it on a whim like other games. And it's not long for the wrong reasons like having to grind. It's just a long story and it has good pacing. It could easily contend for best Pokemon game in my book because of everything going on. Plus, having access to non-Generation V Pokemon is a big plus. If you do get it let me know. I'd love to have a reason to play thru it again.

Currently playing New Game Mode Plus for Shovel Knight. My god I love this game and wish it was longer. Plus mode is pretty tough for me with the extra damage you take and fewer check points on levels. I am really enjoying it though. It feels challenging without being frustrating.

I'll definitely let you know if I get Black 2. Just don't expect it to be soon.

As for Shovel Knight, I do wish you could play through a normal game with the higher damage. I haven't played much of NG+ yet, but taking extra damage doesn't worry me too much when I already have everything maxed out. I suppose it will become more pronounced closer to the end.

It was annoying on Plague Knight's stage because the stage hazards, like fire, would do 2 points of damage. When you only have 10 points of health and there is only a check point at the halfway point and before the boss, it makes it annoying when you get fucked up not by enemies but because your timing on a job was half a second off and the fire juggles you. I would be ok if the enemies were being buffed, but several enemies were far less threatening than the fire platforms.

Kinda been trying to play The Sims 2 but eh. I get annoyed by something and give up.

Been playing a lot more Fire Emblem: Awakening today. I like that I can grind. I don't like that I can't grind for money very easily though. Although I might just cave and buy the DLC map that lets me since it's cheap (although I kind of feel like that map is totally cheating).

I was in the mood for old games that I've never played before. Specifically I busted out my new (used) copy of Kirby's Dream Collection and tried my hand at Kirby's Dream Land. It felt oddly refreshing to play a GB game. I managed to finish it with only one continue (which I was surprised to see in a game this old). I then moved on to Kirby's Adventure and played the first few levels. It almost feels weird to be able to copy abilities after playing a whole Kirby game without that power.

It kind of feels odd that the first game didn't have that.

It'd be like if the first Sonic game didn't involve running fast. Or the first Mario game lacked jumping.

Kirby's Dream Land was the first Kirby game that I had ever played. What was this magical power copying thing? I have Kirby's Adveture 3D Classics for my 3DS, which I load up every now and then to make slow progress. Too much cool.

Six days ago I started a new character in EVE Online and have done nothing else since. Up, work, home, EVE, bed. I can't believe it took me seven years to get back into this game. What have I been doing with my life?

dark souls>sleep>wake>dogwalk>dark souls>work>laser tag>dark souls>work on monday. i ran around for a good hour grinding and trying to figure out where to go. then when i was walking back to a place, i saw a hole in a column that looks like an item that a guy was selling, so maybe that's the way. this game is very subtle in its details like that. the combat is way more realistic than demon/dark souls. you swing your sword, and there's actually weight behind it. you don't immediately recover and swing again, you're thrown off balance, which gives it a realistic rhythm and cadence.

i died a lot right in the first area while doing some inconsequential exploring. there was a big grey demon staring at a waterfall, and without weapons or armor i decided the best course of action would be to try and rip its tail off. it threw some huge punches at me which i dodged, but then he fell over and crushed me to death. dark souls 2 feels immediately familiar to the two games before it, but is enough of its own game to stand alone.

I'm glad I have the power to not play EVE.

Not happy I continue to lack the willpower to escape FIFA 12.
