3 hours into "The Answer" and it is boring as shit.

Please tell me it gets better. Please tell me there is actual story. Please tell me this gets fun.

So far, all the good parts of Persona 3 have been removed. And all it leaves is the shallow combat and a dull grind. (I don't mind grinding in games generally, it's why I like RPGs, and why I was interested in playing this, but the grinding in this game is sooo much more boring than it is in other games.)

Nope. The Answer is pretty boring, just hard and annoying.

I've been playing lots of things because nothing interested me.

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (which was taken over by Bee, so probably won't be touching my 3DS), Ocarina of Time 3D (looks beautiful, but I have most of this game memorized from my youth), Shin Megami Tensei IV (I wish this game would pick up momentum, I hear it does, but it's not doing it quick enough for me), and Dynasty Warriors Next. The latter I finally got Gan Ning, yesss. I also realized that he's voice by Dean Venture, which is awesome. So is Zhou Yu, who I like a lot when I can't use Gan Ning...but Zhou Yu in latter games is so ehhh. I miss the DW3~DW5 character's weapons. Zhou Yu with a staff is not better than Zhou Yu with a sword (same with Gan Ning).

Also tried Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce (not sure if I mentioned this here yet). It was terrible and weird.

I can deal with hard and annoying. That's not the issue.

But the boringness!

I have so many things I could be doing rather than this.

But I want so badly to catch a hint in The Answer to make the ending of The Journey feel less awful.

I'll probably play it for another 5 or so hours, and re-evaluate how I feel about The Answer. I think if after a total of 8 hours have passed and I'm still bored out of my mind, it'll be time to just look up what happens in this game and forget I ever wasted time with it.

Finally gave Dark Souls a try this afternoon, though I haven't gotten very far yet. Took a while to get it going since it immediately needed to update (Steam downloads make my wi-fi move at a crawl), I hadn't yet created a GWL or XBox account, I couldn't get my PC to acknowledge my PS3 controller, and it took a while to find a control scheme that I liked once I got an older PC controller set up. Should be able to properly get into it the next time I play.

EDIT: I was planning to try playing with a keyboard+mouse since I've done that on a number of other games that recommend a gamepad. Then I saw key bindings for the camera and said "no."

Now I just wish the tutorial messages would show me the buttons I actually need to press rather than showing me the controls for the 360 gamepad that I don't own.

Dark Souls takes a lot LOT of patience. don't discount magic, and don't dump all your points into something you don't use. play a specific build, and stick to it. i had to start over twice because i kept putting points where i didn't need them.

cutting a bloody swath through my kill em all playthrough of Dishonored. the no kill stealth playthrough took about two weeks, this one's taking three days. anybody with a ps3 wanna trade games and play it? it's fun, but no way i would pay full price for it.

Got bored with "The Answer". Said fuck it. Looked up what the story is. Wasn't impressed. Glad not to waste 20-30 more hours to be further disappointed.

Decided to play South Park: The Stick of Truth instead. Much more fun than "The Answer".

Enjoying myself a lot.

Mostly because I keep farting on Cartman's mom.

Yes it does. And I'm figuring things out as a go, so I may end up starting over a couple times myself.

I got out of the asylum without too much trouble, but these normal skeleton enemies are giving me more trouble than I feel like they should. And the moment I start thinking I'm getting the hang of fighting them, I run into a giant skeleton. Literally, I saw bones on the ground, thought to myself, "I can take these guys," and then I freaked out and tried to run away from Mr. Big Bones.

Just finished Tomb Raider, gonna go back to Grand Theft Auto V since I still have yet to get far in it, despite the fact that it's a great game. I think sometimes when it comes to games of its scope I get overwhelmed at the thought of how much I have to do even though I like the game a lot.

Speaking about Tomb Raider though , I have to say I was a bit disappointed by the whole having waves of enemies to kill despite the direction they were going for. It felt like had they stuck to a more survivor, tomb raiding platformer mystery of the island idea, I would have liked it more. The sense of build and characterisation of Lara would have come across much better. Like when she has to kill her first animal to feed herself and she's all sad it's like wow. But then a cutscene later I'm off killing 4 or five just for experience alone. Same thing with her first kill, it impacts her greatly but she had to do it. Moments later your given a gun and have to mow down like ten guys, I mean wtf? Also why is there this huge army on this island!?

In the end it all made sense as to why they were there but I feel they had a much better opportunity and what seems like the initial idea. A survivor is born, more like super hot mass murderer.

Bravely Default is still running my life. I got stuck on a boss and now I have to grind (one of my least favorite things to do). I'm likely going to pick up Pokemon X again, just to take a breather from BD.

Yeah, that's um.. that's going to be everything, for the rest of the game...

That's what I'm noticing. I quickly found an easier path to the Undead Burg, got scared away by a dragon, came back when I realized the only other path was through the graveyard with all the skeletons, realized that the dragon was just a tease for later, rejoiced when I finally found a bonfire, explored a little bit while having only mild trouble with undead enemies, then...black knight. The game keeps letting me grow cautiously optimistic, then I get blindsided by something big.

The game keeps letting me grow cautiously optimistic, then I get blindsided by something big.

And that, believe it or not, will eventually stop. Once you get comfortable with the mechanics, that cautious optimism tends to remain optimism, even as you face tougher and tougher challenges. That's part of the reason why the difficulty in the game is celebrated so much by fans.

I finished South Park: The Stick of Truth.

Impressions time. The below are thoughts I had at some point.

- This is like an extended episode of South Park

- The Battle System reminds me of Paper Mario

- Haha I farted on Cartman's Mom.

- This game is really short (15 hours)

- This game is really fun

- Canada is cool.

- I can't believe I payed 60 dollars for a game where a fart is basically your best weapon

- Easy as hell.

- Holy shit, I farted on Cartman's Mom again.

I enjoyed it, as you can see. Wait till it drops below 40 bucks (close to 30 would be preferred) before buying, but get it once it does. Fun game, if a bit short.

I agree. Pretty similar to what I had said when I beat.

I do hope sales are good enough for a sequel though. Even if it's just as short, the game was fun enough that I wouldn't care.

Yeah, if they made a sequel, I'd buy it, and play it, and then probably ask for a third game.

I really like South Park, so the game was a welcome addition to the franchise.

a lot of memorization too, you'll get to places where you'll keep dying and having to pass the same group of knights over and over again. it's really up to you to find the most effective way of taking down the fuhrer. what're your character details?

playing demon's souls, and it's like training wheels compared to dark souls.

I'm presently trying my luck with a Warrior (might try a Sorcerer if I ever feel the need to start a fresh file). I've mostly been boosting my Strength and Vitality plus a bit of Endurance and Dexterity. Still using my starting equips since everything I've found has been similar or worse, and my one ring is a single-use item.

EDIT: So yeah...I got to the Taurus Demon. I was actually doing pretty well for a little while. Then I fell off the side of the bridge. Then it fell off after me. Then I got a VICTORIOUS message. Then I finally died. Bit disappointed that I didn't get to do the fight properly, but I still got all of the spoils, and it probably saved me a bunch of time.
