(Not sure if I posted this or not, but Rose had gotten out a while back. It was a Sunday morning and she thought she could go visit Grandma/Grandpa. The officer had picked her up and she was able to direct him back home. No injures, but scared the shit out of me and Tony. The weird feeling of being angry, sad, and scared was overwhelming.)

 

Sir, I get that you were likely upset that the little boy you had had gotten out and you are upset/sad that you can't locate his home/family (I get that feeling. I know that feeling).

That being said, throwing the fact that my daughter got out, over 6 months ago, does not excuse your rudeness. Holy wow. Also, I appreciate that you scared that 'kid' you brought back by ringing my doorbell obsessively. And if you cared enough to remember you'd fucking remember that, when you dropped my daughter off, we talked about how I have only one other kid. To which I mention was a girl.

 

Sorry just needed vent. pardon my language.

 

I do understand his job is not fun and I would be frustrated too. I know he can't remember everything about every one of his cases/occurrences. I'm just upset about how he handled himself with me.

Amazon fucking lost my packages. The two most important ones. Now they are offering me a refund, and I'm just like "fuck you" I got those things on sale!

 

Why do you think getting my money back will make me happy? Just send me a new package including the things I ordered the first time. Yes, it will lose you money, but it's YOUR fault you lost the package. Not mine. Assholes.

So, while trying to search the internet for tips on how to write an artist statement, I came across an artist statement generator. I can't even imagine why anyone would make this, siince I can't imagine just randomizing an explanation on what drives me to create art in the style I do. Buuut of course, I had to try it out anyway, so I put in my name, types of art I do (not that they actually had a very large pick of art terms, but whatever). The result is the most unusable and pretentious crap ever.

Kaye R. makes paintings and drawings. By referencing romanticism, grand-guignolesque black humour and symbolism, Kaye tries to approach a wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered way, likes to involve the viewer in a way that is sometimes physical and believes in the idea of function following form in a work.

Her paintings doesn’t reference recognisable form. The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted. By applying abstraction, she creates intense personal moments masterfully created by means of rules and omissions, acceptance and refusal, luring the viewer round and round in circles.

Her works are often classified as part of the new romantic movement because of the desire for the local in the unfolding globalized world. However, this reference is not intentional, as this kind of art is part of the collective memory. With a conceptual approach, she creates work through labour-intensive processes which can be seen explicitly as a personal exorcism ritual. They are inspired by a nineteenth-century tradition of works, in which an ideal of ‘Fulfilled Absence’ was seen as the pinnacle.

Her works directly respond to the surrounding environment and uses everyday experiences from the artist as a starting point. Often these are framed instances that would go unnoticed in their original context.

 

So, there you have it. I am a new romantic, inspired by ninteenth century horror theatre, who is attempting to exorcise herself through her artwork. Also, I doesn't reference recognisable form.

By putting the viewer on the wrong track, Stevens formalizes the coincidental and emphasizes the conscious process of composition that is behind the seemingly random works. The thought processes, which are supposedly private, highly subjective and unfiltered in their references to dream worlds, are frequently revealed as assemblages.

His performances appear as dreamlike images in which fiction and reality meet, well-known tropes merge, meanings shift, past and present fuse. Time and memory always play a key role. By experimenting with aleatoric processes, he wants to amplify the astonishment of the spectator by creating compositions or settings that generate tranquil poetic images that leave traces and balances on the edge of recognition and alienation.

His works feature coincidental, accidental and unexpected connections which make it possible to revise art history and, even better, to complement it. Combining unrelated aspects lead to surprising analogies. By applying a poetic and often metaphorical language, he tries to create works in which the actual event still has to take place or just has ended: moments evocative of atmosphere and suspense that are not part of a narrative thread. The drama unfolds elsewhere while the build-up of tension is frozen to become the memory of an event that will never take place.

His works are given improper functions: significations are inversed and form and content merge. Shapes are dissociated from their original meaning, by which the system in which they normally function is exposed. Initially unambiguous meanings are shattered and disseminate endlessly. Jake Kostik (°1992, Allentown, United States) creates media artworks and films. By parodying mass media by exaggerating certain formal aspects inherent to our contemporary society, Kostik touches various overlapping themes and strategies. Several reoccurring subject matter can be recognised, such as the relation with popular culture and media, working with repetition, provocation and the investigation of the process of expectations.

His media artworks are saturated with obviousness, mental inertia, clichés and bad jokes. They question the coerciveness that is derived from the more profound meaning and the superficial aesthetic appearance of an image. By using popular themes such as sexuality, family structure and violence, he makes works that can be seen as self-portraits. Sometimes they appear idiosyncratic and quirky, at other times, they seem typical by-products of American superabundance and marketing.

His works often refers to pop and mass culture. Using written and drawn symbols, a world where light-heartedness rules and where rules are undermined is created. By questioning the concept of movement, he finds that movement reveals an inherent awkwardness, a humour that echoes our own vulnerabilities. The artist also considers movement as a metaphor for the ever-seeking man who experiences a continuous loss.

His works isolate the movements of humans and/or objects. By doing so, new sequences are created which reveal an inseparable relationship between motion and sound.

 

It makes me sounds like a smug asshole. I also apparently deal in violence (despite being a pacifist), sexuality (despite being a virgin until only recently), and family structure (despite having not a single clue how a family operates outside of television).

By choosing mainly formal solutions, Laster tries to approach a wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered way, likes to involve the viewer in a way that is sometimes physical and believes in the idea of function following form in a work.

Her sculptures are notable for their perfect finish and tactile nature. This is of great importance and bears witness to great craftsmanship. With a conceptual approach, she tries to develop forms that do not follow logical criteria, but are based only on subjective associations and formal parallels, which incite the viewer to make new personal associations.

Her works directly respond to the surrounding environment and uses everyday experiences from the artist as a starting point. Often these are framed instances that would go unnoticed in their original context. By using popular themes such as sexuality, family structure and violence, she touches various overlapping themes and strategies. Several reoccurring subject matter can be recognized, such as the relation with popular culture and media, working with repetition, provocation and the investigation of the process of expectations.

Her works often refers to pop and mass culture. Using written and drawn symbols, a world where light-heartedness rules and where rules are undermined is created. With the few sculptures I have made all of them have been an imitation of something else. I have never once created anything that would be considered 'new'. This is hilarious.

Lara Aelric (°1990, United States) makes photos and films. By taking daily life as subject matter while commenting on the everyday aesthetic of middle class values, Aelric formalizes the coincidental and emphasizes the conscious process of composition that is behind the seemingly random works. The thought processes, which are supposedly private, highly subjective and unfiltered in their references to dream worlds, are frequently revealed as assemblages.

Her photos feature coincidental, accidental and unexpected connections which make it possible to revise art history and, even better, to complement it. Combining unrelated aspects lead to surprising analogies. By contesting the division between the realm of memory and the realm of experience, she often creates work using creative game tactics, but these are never permissive. Play is a serious matter: during the game, different rules apply than in everyday life and even everyday objects undergo transubstantiation.

Her collected, altered and own works are being confronted as aesthetically resilient, thematically interrelated material for memory and projection. The possible seems true and the truth exists, but it has many faces, as Hanna Arendt cites from Franz Kafka. By experimenting with aleatoric processes, she absorbs the tradition of remembrance art into daily practice. This personal follow-up and revival of a past tradition is important as an act of meditation.

Her works are characterised by the use of everyday objects in an atmosphere of middleclass mentality in which recognition plays an important role.
