I finished the second and final season of Honey and Clover. It follows five students attending an art university in Tokyo. The sound score was nothing short of amazing and the artwork, especially the lush landscapes and mellow colours, serves to reinforce the nature of the genre. As a slice-of-life, there wasn't much of a plot beyond "real life", but the characters - inarguably the greatest component of the series - were so subtle and believable that even when the series ends, you can't help but to wonder where life will lead them. Each of them struggles to find themselves in a constantly shifting landscape full of harsh realities and complex situations. Unlike your shoujo or seinen, they don't just snap and change to fit the situation or lesson, but instead grow as real individuals. In the transition into adulthood, we often drift away from friends as life takes over, and suddenly, finding work and figuring out what you plan to do in life to sustain yourself becomes a much more important issue than that guy or girl you've been crushing on since last month. Regardless of how desirable those impractical choices seem at the moment, it takes courage to be able to make mature decisions that take everything into consideration. A romance comedy-drama at its core, Honey and Clover chooses to highlight each of these difficult situations and provides a bittersweet yet satisfying conclusion.

If I could classify a favorite "anything", it's this series. 10/10 any day.

More free Groupon rentals~

Inception was as good as I remembered. My brother hadn't seen it yet, so we wanted to remedy this inexcusable behavior.

Shrek Forever After was actually a lot better than I expected. I thought it would be terrible after Shrek the Third, but I liked it nearly as much as Shrek 2.

I also got Monsters vs. Aliens but haven't watched it yet. There wasn't a single other thing at the Red Box I wanted to see (I will never ever watch The Human Centipede...), and the coupon was about to expire, so I wanted to get something with it. Here's hoping it surprises me, and I like it.

It came up when I was looking for How to Tran Your Dragon last time, and of course while I searched the whole list this time. The thing needs to stop popping up whenever I look at movies.

And Monsters vs. Aliens was actually not bad. It was thoroughly silly, but it also had some pretty good non-silly bits mixed in. Kinda wish I'd gone to see it in 3D now.

I am "forcing" my friend to watch Arc the Lad (she's was totally into it by halfway through the first episode, so there). Sadly, we're watching it in English so we (aka she) don't have to focus on every sentence spoken or something, so I'm busy making fun of the voices as we go (seriously. Ever other voice actor in this seems to have come from the English Digimon cast!). But oh well. I'm still enjoying the series very much, except for how the disc keeps freezing.

Still, I suppose it reinforces my point that my friend totally likes it, what with how she starts growling and grumbling whenever it freezes up. Still wish it'd stop, though; there's no reason why it should be skipping.

Almost done with the first disc (of three). =D

Also, I discovered a present in the basement! I was looking for the DVD remote and there was this open box on the couch, so I peeked inside ('cause I was looking everywhere for this remote...) and inside were seasons 4 and 5 of Case Closed! =D I went back upstairs and was like "Hey, Mom, was I...not supposed to find Case Closed in the basement? 'cause they were inside a box and it was kinda wide open, so..." Haha. She was 'going to tell me' that she had ordered them, so she says. Uh-huh. XD

Better news? This totally means I will need to make arrangements to rewatch all of my Case Closed at some point. =) Maybe I'll put all the discs in a binder and bring it up...

bleh. The Human Centipede was terribly tame of a movie. It is so worse of an idea than in execution. It's so terribly hilariously dumb though. Something that would be on MST3K if that still existed.

/>3D is over rated.

9 times out of 10 I would agree, but now and then it can be a worthwhile addition. I'll like it better when it doesn't require glasses though (which is what I like about the 3DS).

I'd like it a lot better if it didn't cost an arm and a leg when i go out to see the damn movie. So far I feel I want my money back.

Watched Forbidden Kingdom a couple days ago because my Borders is closing, and I couldn't resist their 50% off BluRays. (Also got Princess Pride for cheap.)
Saw Shrek 1 & 2 over the last two days as well, just cuz.

I got talked into watching an episode of Angel. I'm not sure what season... not that it mattered because it was the one where Angel gets turned into a puppet. I am still unsure how to feel about this.

Just watched Sucker Punch last night. It's kind of like Repo meets Elite Beat Agents vs Sin City. I don't see it being a popular movie, but I enjoyed it, and I didn't feel gilted by watching it in IMAX. Definitely not the movie for everyone though.

Other than following the weekly big 3, I have been watching other stuff for a random reason.

- finished season 1 of W.I.T.C.H and started season 2.....spare me your laughter. watching it because me and DS (mostly DS) used to read the comics back in high school.
- downloaded all the seasons of The amazing Spiderman, wanted to watch it with a friend who knows a lot about marvel and DC characters...but we haven't found time for it yet so I watched the first few eps from S1.
- Finished S1 of Code Geass a few months ago, S2 still on hold for me since I'm not really feeling up to it now.
- Azumanga Diaoh is on a hold too, for a long time now. might start again when done with W.I.T.C.H

Have been thinking of reading and watching Fairy Tail, but in not too sure yet....has a "lol dunno if I'll like it so I'll postpone watching and or reading it indefinitely" aura around it.
