Is it wrong to buy a Wii U just for a weekend of Smash Bros with an old friend?
I wanted orange. It gave me lemon-lime...

If you're not choosing between the Wii U and paying bills, I say go for it.

Probably, Wii U is pretty good.

Or, to put it more politely, "Neener neener."

Until people who don't upgrade to the NX get Breath of the Wild, you mean.

Even then, I feel like Nintendo is way behind the times.
LoZ has its own art aesthetic, but then you look at the engine they're using and the graphics... and see that they're good. for nintendo. Unless they change/add a lot of new gameplay mechanics for battle or whatnot, it just seems like something every other company were capable of doing back on PS2.

I dunno. Pretty graphics are nice, but not a year ago, I happily put 80 hours into a portable remake of a PS2 game (P4G). If a game is fun and not hideous to look at, that's good enough for me.
Yeah, but I feel there is far more depth of story and gameplay to any persona game than there is to LoZ. So to come out subpar is both graphics and gameplay is rather disappointing.
People are comparing the new game LoZ to skyrim a bit, and quite frankly, Skyrim comes out on top.
But I'm sure we have a great soundtrack to look forward to.

I hesitate to judge the quality of a game that's still nearly a year away. A lot can change in that amount of time. Plus I'm not sure what you mean by "subpar" gameplay. I'm eager to play it based on what we've seen so far. As for comparing it to Skyrim, I really don't think it's trying to imitate. The very first Zelda was a big open world, so one could easily argue that they're just going back to its roots.

the roots was flat 2d. The open world stuff doesn't exactly thrill me. especially from gameplay we've been able to observe shows us that we will be backtracking like nobody's business. There's still gonna be linearity, just not as obvious. Just like with Metroid Prime.
As far as the gameplay, it's just that the actions and attacks are pretty simplistic. For both link and the monsters he's been fighting.
Idk, it could just be me. I really liked Oracle of Ages. And I really couldn't bring myself to finish ANY zelda game besides that one and Link's awakening.

It's a fact, 2D Zelda games are much better, but BoW still looks good. I think you're being a bit pessimistic about the graphics, too. PS2 could never do something like that, PS3 might have come close but not as open a world. Wii U isn't a powerhouse by any means, and nobody is saying that it is, but good graphics are about more than the number of polygons on the screen.

Or, to put it more politely, "Neener neener."
