Holy crap, art! Oddly enough despite not posting anything fro two months, I don't actually have a hell of a lot to show for all this time. :/ I've been lazy and rather uninspired, but whatever.

Lots of RP characters, a portrait of Pepe that, now that I'm looking at it, seems disproportionate somehow, but I can't place how- and an oil painting of Ares that's actually unfinished. I kind of just got bored, especially because I didn't start it well and made a lot of silly technical mistakes, such as forgetting to prime the surface and stuff. Though the painting was really just kind of a test, since I'd never used oil paints before. So, eh.

Hair is one of the main things I use to recognize characters, so I don't think I would have recognized Pepe without that title. He looks like he's daring me to comment on that to his face.
I can't pick out anything specific in that pic that makes it look disproportionate.

I like the varied assortment of outfits and personal styles for each of the RP characters. Makes them all interesting.
It's been a while, so you may have told me this before, but what relation does this Ophir fellow have to Ares with their identical tattoos?

Even if you didn't finish the painting of Ares, I'm glad you got to try out the oils. =) Looks like you were having fun, y'know, until the boredom part kicked in. xp

Thanks! I'm actually fairly pleased you noticed that about their styles. And the painting was fun, I mostly stopped not only because of boredom and the technical mistakes, but because it was actually too damp at the time that I was painting for the paints to dry very well. Some times they'd take about three days to dry, other times over a week. =/ Although I do definitely love those oil paints.
As for the tattoo, I'll explain that later.

Holy shit, new stuff. I actually didn't realize that I hadn't posted anything here since September. Anyhow, this isn't half of what I have been drawing, but I don't really feel like posting all of that. As it is, most of them are just quick sketches because I'd been working on two time consuming paintings, one since September (which isn't done yet) and one that I was working on from November 1st till Christmas. Kamau's Christmas present, actually! :D Which is the last pic I posted. It's basically the only reason I posted in this topic.
If you're curious, the painting was done with oils, on a 14" by 18" canvas.

Well here's the thing, looking at your most recent stuff, I still love your pencil shading abilities. Absolutely beautiful.
Your linework is nice and clean and I see you defining muscles and features very well.
Your female character (Kaye) has this beautiful grace about her that was great to see even though she's looking all
rugged and ready to hit the road. Then I hit the next link and Khuza is just so straight legged and stiff. His upper body
has what you're looking for but everything below the waist is just so flat and undefined.

Duly impressed with the painting, but remember not to be afraid to use much deeper colors and even delve into
using blacks more freely. It'll make your images much more dynamic in terms of lighting.

Overall, you've really stepped up a bit since I last visited. :)
I do hope you'll get out of your no-art funk and post more!

I still have been doing art, but admittedly, I just haven't been posting it on MP. It's tedious to post things constantly, especially when I have a tendency to just link it to those who'd be interested in IM. Though, if you're interested, I do post stuff on dA every now and again. It's usually only finished pieces (so, not too many sketches). Mah Gallery!

I'm surprised by what you say for Kaye, though, simply because I always feel like I haven't captured her well enough, so it's nice to get positive feedback on her. Though I am aware of the issues with Khuza, I'm not terribly experienced with doing full body pictures, so I have a tendency to mess up the legs or make them look stiff. I'm working on that, though. :p Hopefully, when I continue the travel gear series I can learn how to correct that more easily.

As for the painting, there's actually a lot of contrasting, dark colors. Unfortunately, there's always a light sheen on the colors and they appear lighter in the photos. Black...especially.... -_- (the black actually looks shiny in real life at times, I don't know why and since it was my first time using these paints, I haven't figured out how to fix it). It might have come out closer to the actual colors if I'd scanned it, but Kamau had it framed and I was unable to take it out again without ruining the frame. =/
Still, critiques are always welcome. :) I like it when people notice stuff, even if it's the mistakes I've made. XD

Added a new picture. :D I drew Jon Snow for my bro's birthday. The lettering isn't exactly my best, but I did it after working on the rest of the picture for about 8-10 hours straight, no breaks... so my hand wasn't exactly steady. But while it was literally painful to draw all this in such a short span of time, I'm pretty pleased with the results~

The quote is the Night's Watch oath, which is basically an order of warriors that Jon belongs to. Although it's the TV version of the oath, which apparently leaves out a line from the oath, which is why I opted for it since that meant it was slightly shorter. XD (plus, since I based his likeness of of the actor who plays him, it made more sense, anyway)
