This game is too fun. I made myself a little hideout away from the zombies and explody things, and that turned into a big cavern. Then I built a second tunnel to the surface and I hit a lake or something and that turned into a giant waterslide. Pretty magical. I also made myself some nifty armor and a sword!

I have built a compass so that I can explore to my heart's content, and always come back. I am also working on a treehouse not too terribly far away (I found a nice forest near the spawn point).
I will eventually give the actual survival mode a try, but for now... man, I'm just having a blast building and mining and crafting...
Seriously awesome game.

Exploration is awesome, but I normally play with monsters on so it can be a little tricksy. For me, though, it's all about the mining. Every other player I've watched play so far has built incredibly crude ruins that simply follow the mineral veins. For some reason I prefer to construct intricate pre-planned tunnel systems that adhere to principles of rotational symmetry. I guess I'm just anal like that.
It does make me wonder what our creations on Minecraft say about us as players though.

See, I also was playing with the sound off. Now every little thing scares me, because things are GROWLING at me, and I can't see them. And I just killed a zombie. And a skeleton was shooting at me with a bow.
Now i'm scared..
EDIT: P.S. This is Invince.

I'm abandoning my current world and starting over with the difficulty on normal. I've lost too much to go back...

I've been playing on a multiplayer server since they implemented health. I haven't had time to achieve anything spectacular but I have started construction on my tower, my tree farm and a couple of massive spiral staircases connecting the two. I find I build so many rooms that are just left empty. I wish there was more things to craft so each room could have a unique purpose.

Every time I feel like I'm discovering something awesome, or getting lots of minerals and jazz... the game finds some way to kill me. I've already come up with a few ways to be more careful, so that I lose less, but I just can't take it anymore...
I'm going back to peaceful mode for a little while. Then maybe I'll put the game on easy, and see how well that works out for me.

One time was because I found a dungeon with a monster spawner.
They also like to fall on my head when I'm digging upwards.
Those blasted zombies...

Sounds a bit weird I don't really encounter those problems. Monster spawners are rare for me and I've never dug upwards into a zombie. Zombies are fairly easy to dispatch too, normally you can knock them back and they'll walk straight back into your flailing weapon. Are you playing with any mods on?I go torch crazy, especially in caves. For some reason it just doesn't take much. It's usually the damn zombies. They get right up on me fast, and I die.

I'm in the more wetland/island-type biome, whatever that would be. I haven't even explored that much.. at least not above ground. My spawn point is on a tiny sandbar next to an island, and that island was where I spent most of my time until I started to.... build my tower. See, near that main island, and my spawn point, another island formed with a pit in the middle. So I just kinda stole the location and started building. Take a look (I'm not super duper creative, so bear with me):

8 downloadsI've died a few times, but haven't had any major losses (even when that damn creeper snuck up on me...). I get it now. I'm having a blast.
Also, Bean, it occurs to me that there are elements to this game that are similar to some ideas you've had, if I'm remembering our old conversations correctly, such as the interactive environments. I specifically remember one time you mentioning lighting fire to a forest and having it actually effect an environment. I was wondering how Minecraft is fitting in with your video game ramblings these days.

Also I do find a lot of multiplayer time is spent apart, but when you get to show the other players around after hours of work it can be really rewarding.

I'm a monster. Who knows how many pigs, sheep, chickens, and cows I've killed. I can see a few jumping in flaming pain.
