+++++ Nothing in the kitchen got set on fire despite all of the sparks! Seriously, I'm surprised, there was just a wave of sparks emanating from this thing.

 

-I can not believe the stupidity of my mom sometimes. At the first suspicious 'pop' and burst of sparks from the burner, I go "Oh shit, turn it off." and she goes "Yeah, I will, I just wonder why..." and then proceeds to just STARE at the burner instead of turning the freaking stove off before investigating. Like. What. No.

 

-Also, this is the second time a burner sparked and popped. The first time was about a week ago. It was a pop, a few sparks and then it stopped turning on. I only *just* found out that my mom, under the instruction of our landlord, removed that burner and put it into the plug that just currently blew up to 'test' if the burner was really dead. It worked in that slot, so she continued using it without telling any of us about this. And then it exploded. I really don't know what they were expecting. Even if it was the plug that was malfunctioning, she and the landlord should have assumed that the burner itself wouldn't work properly after sparks came flying out of it.

 

++ Technically, it's the landlord's responsibility, so we won't have to pay for any repairs or replacements, at least.

+ Ended up getting the day off for the birthday party (again)! 

- Two of my 5 hr shifts got shortened to 2 hrs each

- Have had a few terrible sessions in a row

+ But at least today was pretty decent

 

- Still no luck figuring out how to stumble across a film gig, but not about to give up any time soon!

Well... looking to anywhere not retail. I would like at least one effin' weekend off a month. A holiday every now and then would be nice too. Sad part is if I get a new job it has to pay me what I'm making now, or less with overtime to compensate. Doubtful, but not hopeless.

+(3x10^45) was just planning on watching, but after i could get a spot i went on and killed it with year old jokes, and the only other people that had similarly positive reactions were people i've seen at showcases way the hell in the city.

+ Someone I talk to on FB apparently knows enough about what I'm looking for to mention potential film-related things to me when she comes across them

+ This one was a FB status of a friend of hers who was looking for creative people

+ Said friend has been an independent film maker for 10+ years

+ So I FB messaged him

+ He messaged me back super fast

++ And liked my pitch of how I'm good at bouncing ideas

+ So he said he'd bounce ideas with me via text the next morning

+ So we did

++++ And a few hours into it he said "I'd like to meet and talk through stuff. I really think I want you on board for this project."

+ And now we're FB friends

 

+ And today he posted a status about his progress and mentioned my name with special thanks

+ And then immediately messaged me asking for more advice on his scripts

+ And he likes my new ideas too and said "Damn, we work well together and we've never met!"

 

- It's all unpaid but

He originally said he's looking to use different crews for all four short films he wants to make, but I'm hoping he'll let me help with all four of them. Maybe I'll even get to use my camera, since he uses a similar one for his own work!
