So has anyone thought of a potential team for HG/SS? Or even which starter you will choose?

Hm..so I've finally decided. I'm going to have two teams that will mostly consist of pokemon I rarely/if ever used, one for Johto and one for Kanto. I want to have a fresh start in the second region. For the Battle Frontier and Red, I will merge the two teams together.

The Johto team will consist of Victreebel, Noctowl, Forretress, Corsola, Hitmonchan, and Beautifly. Abomasnow is a back-up.

The Kanto team will consist of Chikorita, Dragonair, Ariados, Misdreavus, Breloom, and Froslass. Absol is a back-up.

I want to try winning with a few pokemon that are not fully evolved :3

Feraligatr
As for the rest of my team... methinks... umbreon, scizor, politoed, yanmega, heracross, tyranitar, mismagius. I'll have to narrow the list down of course, but those are the ones that jump out at me. There's still magikarp to catch, and i may dabble in fire with Houndoom.

Kanto?

Blastoise, of course

Machamp/Primape
Nidoking
Persian
Farfetch'd/Crobat
Gengar
Kingler
Marowak
Magmortar/Electivire
Aerodactyl
Articuno
Dragonair
Mewtwo

For reference, my team was/is:

Gengar
Kingdra
Slowking
Exeggutor
Ninetales
Umbreon

Half Sunny Day, half Rain Dance. Going to make a totally new one for the battle frontier though.

I haven't decided on a team and I never really do until I start playing. Plus, I plan on replaying this game and restarting many time while saving worthwhile Pokemon on Platinum. For Pokemon I'm interested in:

Scizor
Jumpluff
Heracross
Ursaring
Ampharos
Sudowudo
Espeon
Skarmory
Houndoom
Smeargle
Tyranitar
Ledian
Xatu
Lanturn
Crobat

Because the only plant pokemon I've ever used were venusaur, sceptile, and shaymin. So I've probably got less interest in grass types than I even do for fire types.

I think my team will be whatever Cyndiquil grows up to me, Ampharos, Gyrados, Xatu, Alakazam, and Dragonite. Or at least that was my team when I was younger, I might try and do something news.

So Mt. Silver is no longer nearly so wimpy. Not nearly as big as Mt. Coronet, but it's not the four room joke it was in GSC.
Also, Red's battle takes place in hail, and is sufficiently bomb. His level 88 Pikachu swept me, granted I had to carry two HM slaves to make it up there, and my highest levels are 53, water types. Sooo failll.

Looking at pokathelon stats... I find myself quite smug to see that only wartortle has the potential to have max stats in all the categories. I don't it's possible for any one wartortle to actually have full stars in each stat... but still. there are a few others that come close, but... oh wait, ditto has that potential too, but poor base stats. Ah, same goes for sunkern... And Arceus is the only one who practically has max base and potential stats. XD

Hard to say. Usually I pick the grass type, but I really hate Chikorita and it's evolutions, so probably Totodile. As for the rest of the team, I don't put any thought into it, I just travel, and whatever Pokemon I like that I pick up I use.

Totodile easily
Then I was thinking of:
Alakazam
Ampharos
Skiploom
Machamp
Tyranotaur

Not sure how balanced this will end up being playing out, but my teams tend to be WILDLY unbalanced and easily swept away when my tactic of all out speed or offense don't work. My platinum team is 2/3's flying type just to give you an idea.

Balance is an over-rated component of the game. My teams, both in game in and out tend to consist mainly of Dark, Ghost and Psychic types, with very few exceptions, and I normally get along very well with them. It's a matter of how you use them. As even further evidence, look at the mono-typed gym teams, which still manage to put out good fights.
Or they would, were they functional.

Your team looks good, cept maybe the skiploom. I've never seen one that gave me a challenge... But then again, all my teams are all out attackers too.
