Zelda: A Link to the Past

Which I have NEVER beaten! GAH! And I refuse to use a walkthrough, which is part of the problem.

SNES or GBA version? Because the Ice Palace, at least, is much easier in the remake. (I used to have to skip to the next dungeon and use the item from there to solve some of the puzzles. >_< )
How far have you gotten?

GBA version. I am right now at the Boss for the Forrest Dungeon (don't remember what it's called). Where you get the Fire Rod and I'm ready to face off against the boss.

When I got to the Swamp Dungeon, I was glad I had picked up the Flippers since you need to swim. Didn't remember I needed them for it, just happened to decide and get them the before the last dungeon. And I cannot for the life of me figure out how they expect you to know where to get those flippers, as I only know from having played the game before.

beat Birth By Sleep for all 3 characters as well as the final episode. Then watched Blank Points, the 'secret' movie for beating it. And then found and collected all the stickers on Terra's file. and got up to lvl 19/20 in the arena.
...

do people in the army make fun of you for playing fruity weeaboo games like kingdom hearts?

playing GTA4. hoping to actually finish it this time instead of getting bored, crashing helicopters for three hours, and not playing again for three months.

No. They ask if it was any good and how it plays, cuz they've heard of it but know nothing about it.

Am I a strange dichotomy of things? Nerd/athlete/soldier/gamer/bookworm/socialdrinker...

Playing Final Fantasy Dissidia (PSP) and kicking ass as Cloud. But lvl 110 chaos is a cheap mother fucker on max difficulty, 10 levels above your own max level, and you have to fight him three times in a row without healing as his bag of tricks become ever more cheap and undodgeable.

I....I did it. I finally beat Link to the Past!

*gleeful dance*

*happy dance*

*joyful dance*

But apparently I am still missing one item. One item away from having collected every item in the game. The quest must continue even after having defeated *SPOILERS* Ganon!

One of the canes or the cape or something like that is entirely optional. I don't even recall if there's a situation where you need to use it.

Or was it one of the medallions? Bah.

I think you need the cape for at least one of the pieces of heart, but that's all I can think of. The medallions can be pretty fun. I found the optional cane useful for fighting Blind before I was any good at the game.

Might have also been a bottle.

I beat Kingdom Hearts 2 the other week~! :D I've been working on it all semester. It was fun. I can't wait to get Birth By Sleep now.

Because I've decided to cheat my system and not play nothing but Legend of Heroes until I beat it (mostly because I just got annihilated by a boss and don't feel like level grinding...) I'm currently playing Lunar: Silver Star Harmony. It's crazy how different it is from the Playstation version! They even changed all of the songs in it and added entirely new scenes.

Probably a cane because I have the cloak that turns you invisible, all three medallions of which I think two are required, and I have all four bottles. Now I just need to figure out where the cane is...and what it does.

ADVENTURE!

Playing a Link to the Past in ye olden days, the items I found most interesting were the
Canes of Somaria and Byrna, two artifacts of ARCANE MIGHT. (One made exploding blocks and was
awesome; the other created a barrier that drained your magic meter and was used primarily by
losers.) It wasn't their functions that caught my attention so much as their names -- no
Somaria or Byrna have ever been mentioned anywhere else in the Zelda universe, as far as I
was aware, and so I at some point in this train of thought concluded with the staves
belonging to wizards of the same names.
It made sense at the time.
Anyway, several years later the Minish Cap was released, and one of its many bizarre items
was the Cane of Pacci, a throwback to the mysterious canes of previous games. This one,
however, serves an entirely useless purpose, and I can't imagine why any sort of sorcerer
would want to put his name on it.

Finished Minish Cap for the first time earlier today. I had originally heard that it was short and lame, but Monkey insisted it was worth playing when I told him this. I bought the game quite some time ago and got a little ways into the second dungeon before quitting. I started it back up after finishing Spirit Tracks a few weeks ago and have rather enjoyed it. All the music from Link to the Past fills me with glee, which may very well be part of the reason I like it. But it did have some interesting boss fights (the flying manta ray things come to mind) and even some impressive lesser enemies (namely the Darknuts).

Also I got through a few more levels of The Conduit after taking a break from that. Now I just have one more level to beat.

I think I may start up Chrono Trigger DS next since my winter break starts on Tuesday, and I'll have enough time to get into it properly.

EDIT: So the last level of The Conduit is exactly two rooms long. I am disappointed.
Still a fun enough game overall, though.

I'd like to rent 3D Dot Game Heroes sometime since I've been on a Zelda binge lately.

I decided to tackle Oracle of Ages instead of CTDS and made it through that in a few days. (I have the player's guide but didn't use it until they went all Water Temple on me near the end and made me adjust water levels.) It was quite enjoyable, even having just finished two newer handheld Zelda games. I beat Oracle of Seasons back in high school, but I never finished a linked game (and don't know where my old passwords are), so I'm playing that again to get the combined ending and final boss.

Might have to finally go beat the original after this, while I'm at it. I've gotten to the final level but don't have an NES to access that save file, and I'm in the proper mindset to start again on my Gamecube copy. Zelda II on the other hand...well, we'll see how I feel about that when the time comes. =p

I've been playing a fair amount of Smash Bros Melee lately. Found a couple of guys who are into it and are pretty good. Still haven't found anyone who can consistently beat me though.

I played Brawl a couple weeks ago for the first time in...a long time? I can't even remember how long it had been. Been ages since I last played Melee. I can't even remember why so many people insisted that Melee was superior to Brawl.

Anyway, I finished the Oracles a couple days ago. The extra fights at the end of the linked game were a bit of a let down. =(
Also I'm not entirely sure why it gave me another password after the credits...
Being done with those, I pulled out my Zelda Collector's Disc for Zelda 1 and found that I was already half finished. I played it for an hour or so and am still only half finished... Apparently I fail at Zelda 1.
Feeling a bit despondent, I switched to Zelda 2 - which I hadn't previously started on this disc - I found that I am better at it than I remembered. I am now in the third palace, and I think I'm nearly finished with it. For better or worse, I have no memory of anything past the second dungeon, so everything at this point is new to me.

Aside from all of that, 3D Dot Game Heroes should be arriving tomorrow~

I think I like Melee better than Brawl, but that might just be down to stubbornness and nostalgia. I think there are still reasons to put in any of the three Smash Bros, though.

I hate myself a little bit for how much I'm liking Halo: Reach. I've never been much into online FPS's, especially without a keyboard and a mouse, but I'm actually getting pretty ok at it.

Been ages since I last played Melee. I can't even remember why so many people insisted that Melee was superior to Brawl.

Because it is. Seriously. The controls are much more fluid and responsive, the super smash moves in Brawl disrupt the frenetic gameplay and the level design is better (and more balanced) on Melee.

I do wish Melee had some of the Brawl characters though. Pokemon trainer especially, I love the concept of that character. Also Omar!
