Secret wooooorld! I like it at about 80% right now. The it seems a lot like DDO in the way the quests work. I really hate how, SO FAR (and I've only gotten through 27 quests), the path is pretty much the same no matter the faction. I suspect that this will change after the first town. This is the first RPG that I have been absolutely captivated by the lore. That has redeemed it. It's very interesting to see the parallels with reality. It think it would be really awesome if they added three revolution factions. This would fix most of the quest issues (which make sense because the three factions work towards the same goal pretty much and aren't really enemies). It sucks that no matter what you do, you play an evil character.

Despite all that, I still am loving this game. The story is freaking incredible and the world has just the right amount of complexity. The graphics are the best I've seen in an MMO, by far. I also love how a most of the quests have super entertaining cut scenes.

We've made too many compromises already, too many retreats. They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far and no further!

I would like to give a shout out to The Secret World for a game mechanic that I have never seen before and I have fallen in love with. Essentially, there are these things they call investigation missions and though they can be very confusing at times (I've had to use a walkthrough a couple times) they actually make you use your brain! There are these clues that are typically very very cryptic and you then press b to research various things. For instance,  just did a mission where for one of the clues, I had to do some math then I figure out that it was referring to Psalm 41 verse 8. So, i looked it up and I was a bit confused. It didn't really help all that much. So I sat there for a second and started thinking about the Illuminati (I am playing in that faction) and I realized they wouldn't use an ENGLISH Bible! They would be referencing the Latin! So, I found the verse in Latin. By this time, I had realized that I was looking for a word; there were letters on the tiles on the floor. I found a note in the room with me that said first darkness. The first word of Psalm 41:8 in Latin is Abyssus or darkness. So, I carefully tried spelling it out. I got to the double S part and because I didn't press the tile twice, the room released poison gas and I died. I had to jump on it to press it twice. The next room was another puzzle that took quite a bit of research. I read up on this flute composer whose nickname was referenced in a scrap of paper under an organ-like mechanism  with stained sheet music. The note said that I shouldn't be mourning the man in the tomb i was trying to get to but Dolandi. Dolandi is the nickname of J. Dowland who composed a piece titled "Flow, My Tears". I had to find the sheet music to play the missing notes from the sheet music.

MORE GAMES NEED THIS!!!!!!

DmC Devil May Cry.

Despite the horrible reputation it got BEFORE IT LAUNCHED due to how much they changed things in this reboot, it's really a great game when you take the time to sit down and play it. It isn't my favorite one in the series (That's a given though, when you've loved the original long before they change it), but I have to give compliments when they're due, and for DmC, it's been long overdue.

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix.

I started the original on Final Mix mode. Now I remember why the original Kingdom Hearts was probably my least favorite in the series (though still good).

1. Atlantica sucks.

2. Scrounging levels for one little detail I missed sucks.

3. Donald and Goofy's AI sucks.

Other than the obvious Pokemon X, I have also been playing Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity.

I gotta say I'm starting to think I'm out growing these types of games. Either that or I hate reading... I'm not even a quarter of the way through this game and the majority of my play through has been me button mashing the A button. I get seriously frustrated at the story line that is explained so painfully slow. And I don't even know the full story yet!

Keep in mind I have played little of the previous mystery dungeons, but I can't recall loathing any cut scenes. I've tried making the text go faster and even looked up ways to skip them... sadly my journey is hindered by the writers of this game.

As much as I may complain about it I'm still enjoying it. There are a ton of extra things to do and see. Mini games, item exchanges, & the neatest thing is a weird mechanic called 'Magnagate'. You pretty much just look for some round/circular object and it may open a 'gateway' to a dungeon. This feature is complete my separate from the main story and any items you obtain are deposited in your bank for the main save to use.

I'm far from done with this game, but I just wanted a quick rant. :)

I don't think that's crazy at all.

I don't know how bad the story telling in Gates to Infinity is, but my last experience with a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game was dreadful. The story developed too slowly, and I already knew the direction before it went in that direction. It's not that I was spoiled, it's that the games give away the upcoming plot. Real kill joy that is.

I mean, the gameplay in those games are wicked solid. If I had a 3DS, Mystery Dungeon would be one of the games I bought, simply because it's a great time killer, and the actual gameplay is quite fun and open.

It's just a shame the story telling kills it for me.

Morrowind is fun. I want Morrowind gameplay with Oblivion leveling, and Skyrim graphics. Sigh.

I've been playing OOTP14 (Out of the Park Baseball 14).

Basically it's a front end management simulator. So I'm playing a baseball game that doesn't actually have baseball in it.

I'm loving it so fucking much.

I actually rather like Skyrim's leveling, despite it being "dumbed down" compared to previous games.

I like it a lot, too. I just wish it happened a little slower. But the perk system is pretty nice.

Yeah, and it's pretty nice that you can branch out into new skills without any handicap beyond it starting out weaker than all the stuff you've been using, which is how it ought to be. My battlemage started out just focusing on Destruction and Restoration, but after a while the Alteration spells and perks started looking pretty good too. So I started practicing Alteration. And that was all there was to it. It was great.

EDIT: About the only thing I didn't care for is how easy (and tempting) it is to grind through a ton of levels in, say, Smithing. I made so many iron daggers. It was ridiculous. It very effectively distracted me from actually, y'know, playing the game.

Skyrim's leveling is probably the best of the three, but I agree with the concern that it's just too easy to level. It also kind of sucks because it's way too easy to level some things (like Smithing) and way too hard to level other things (like Armor, unless you're just going to go kill yourself a ton).

Although I think Morrowind's leveling kind of sucks. It's pretty easy to begin with but way harder when you're at higher levels, which isn't too bad since that's kind of how things should be but it kind of penalizes you for not picking the best possible character combination.

Why is Oblivion's leveling the worst? Skyrim's was too easy, and Morrowind's had a tendency to be too difficult at the tail end.

Oblivion's actually found what I feel is a fair middle ground. Though maybe I'm just crazy, and see it that way because of the fact I was adequately challenged throughout the game, without feeling overwhelmed, which is how a game should be. Challenging, but not impossible without a creation guide.

I've been jumping between games.

Shin Megami Tensei IV: It's good. Pretty hard. But hasn't really gripped me yet.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky: I'm so far removed from it, last time I played was two months ago because I got side tracked by Persona/Zelda. It's good but I haven't really gotten back into it.

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions: Bought it because of kasper mentioning it. But oh my god the slowdown for every attack makes it unplayable. I can not stand it.

Spelunky: Fun! But hardish.

Not trying to make a point with this, but now I'm feeling nostalgic over my Morrowind character who had 100 in every stat. He used no actual magic (just potions and spells), wore no armor other than gauntlets (because Fists of Randagulf), and fought with his fists like a proper gentleman.

Now I'm remembering that I was kind of glad (after I thought about it) that Oblivion changed up the skills trainers from Morrowind. It was way too easy to get tons of money in Morrowind and just pay NPCs to bump up all of your skills repeatedly. The only one that gave me trouble was the Enchantment master trainer, who is hostile by default but will train you if you hit him with a Calm spell.

*****

I think I'm nearly to the end of Guacamelee. It's been kind of easy for the most part, but the bosses and some of the trickier platforming did require some practice to get past.

Also been playing some more Rogue Legacy. Finally beat the third boss yesterday. Not particularly looking forward to the final area since I've been more or less avoiding it up until now. It's intimidating, which doesn't seem to happen very often in other games I play.
