Why are word problems so ridiculous? Like, whether you find them difficult or not, you have to admit that they find the most implausible situations to apply to these problems.

But I loved figuring out how far from the base of a cliff the coyote lands after running off the edge at a given velocity.

Well, my class suggests that the only reason we find word problems to be difficult is because of the way we're taught to do math. If our schools followed more of a constructivism model, word problems would be easier to understand.

so is math dependant on biocentricity?

The stance of my paper is basically yes, but it's generally just a matter of opinion.

i always made math into words. one of my coworkers is taking an entry level algebra class, and i can't understand any of her homework. if school actually taught math with actual functioning lessons instead of numbers on paper, it'd be a lot more digestable.

I saw white and gold. I say it might be a simple switch of pictures. Without seeing the blue/black dress I can't be certain.

I don't think so because Bee and I have seen nothing but conflicting colors. Maybe she's lying.

Both Bee and I have switched colors. Both twice. I originally saw White/Gold and then I saw Blue/Black and now I see White/Gold.

Bee originally saw White/Gold when I saw Blue/Black. Then when I saw White/Gold she said it was Blue/Black. Right now she's back on White/Gold (same as me).

My parents have stood by the fact that it's Blue/Black no matter what...I just don't know. It's so tricky.

Same.. The comments on here saying it's just the reflective indoor lighting on the black making it look gold make no sense to me. There's too many solid shades of gold and brown- and on top of that, black doesn't really reflect light like that (not unless it's a reflective material like leather or something, anyway, and while the jacket seems to be made of such a material, the dress itself doesn't seem that way.

Though it has yet to 'change' colors for me. I feel like I'll have to glance back a couple of times to see what happens.

I can only assume that the lighting does something to throw people off, but iono. It remains white and gold every time I look at it.

Supposedly this is the same dress, and it is unquestionably blue and black here. Still can't figure what's up with the pic Monkey linked to.

EDIT: Having trouble posting a link from my phone.

EDIT: Laptop to the rescue.

I hope you guys get to experience it switching colors on you. Because they you wouldn't be so matter of fact about it.

Honestly, I believe it's Blue/Black, but I absolutely do not see that anymore. I can only see it in White/Gold now.

The only way I can see blue and black is if I tilt my screen way back and squint.

I've tried everything. I can kinda see a case for gold, but i honestly see that as a trick of the light. The rest is blue without question. It's blue on my wife's computer, at any angle. It's blue on my phone, at any angle or any brightness. I haven't experienced any color changes, the blue always looks the same.

It wouldn't entirely surprise me if it was blue and black, since the white part still looks bluish (though a very, very light blue- so I thought the dress was tilted away from the light source and shadowed- also explaining why the gold is more of a greenish brown in parts). Though, to be honest, if the photo Stars posted is the same dress, I gotta say... it looks better in white and gold.

I just showed it to Spaz on my phone, and she saw it as Blue and Black. Not sure if it makes a difference. Her computer is LCD, but my phone is AMOLED. Though, honestly, my phone does colors better than her monitor (and does them correctly, it seems).

It upset me that the color changed on me, but this article helps.
