Is it weird that the trailer does absolutely nothing for me? They just seem to be pushing all the Deus Ex buttons I don't care about.

Not weird at all. It's far too action heavy, and the icarus metaphor is super heavy in the trailer. I'm still excited. Even if it's not quite Deus Ex-y enough, it should still be a pretty good stealth based shooter that encourages exploration.

I would then have to spend way too much on video games this year. but oh god what a year it would be.

God I hope they go with the Black Marsh or Elsweyr as the setting.

I know it's a small thing to pick up on, but did anyone else think that the animation for that dogs walk looks kind of crap? It just doesn't seem very fluid, he doesn't seem to move like a dog should move. It seems like the kind of thing they probably should have gotten right if it was going to feature some prominently in the trailer.
Also the graphics don't look much better than Fallout New Vegas. What's the deal with that?

yeah i noticed that too. but apparently they've been working on the trailer for a while so I'm hoping this is still a beta version or even alpha

I'm wondering if it's using the same engine as Skryim. Which would be kinda meh.
I don't know. Bethesda games don't always have the best textures in the first place anyways.

I suspect it's just using the Skyrim engine, which I'm OK with (As I was typing this, MD posted his comment thinking the same thing, so there's that).
What I'm curious about is the setting. Where will this one be? I do like that it implies we'll be going a bit further in to the future, watching as people attempt to more fully rebuild society, but there really isn't a lot to go in. Also, did anybody else get the impression that maybe we'll be playing this game during two time periods? I don't know if it will be as two separate characters, or if time travel will be involved in some way, but I don't know what other purpose there could be for showing the time when the bombs fell. We already know the bombs fell. That's why the games exist.
Bethesda. Bethesda never changes.

People who know more about land marks than I ever will seem to think this takes place in Boston.

Yeah, totally Boston.
Also it's probably not that much into the future. Fallout 3 is a bit weird and kind of contradicts lore. There are tons of society in the Fallout universe, especially on the East/West costs. So I'm glad there's more of a society focus in this game, like in New Vegas. I'd love to see a New Vegas-esque game come out of this too, that takes place in the same areas Fallout 1/2 take place in.
Oh also, I hope there's more simulation stuff like there was in Fallout 3. There's a lot of reference to before the war in that trailer.
