I have a pretty small variety of games that interest me so the ones that I do have an interest in I know QUITE WELL! I just recently signed onto the Assassins Creed bandwagon though. Then I started checking out Ubisoft hardcore because of the huge scope of developers in the credits and I was hooked.

Games That Are Going to Kick Ass

We've made too many compromises already, too many retreats. They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far and no further!

I played AC2 for a bit, it was okay but I always wish it was more sandboxy. Maybe I should have given it more time to hook me (although my computer kind of crashed and I assume my save went away, unless it's in the cloud somewhere).

I've always been a huge fan of historical fiction and I think that added allot to my love for Assassins Creed. Also, the conspiracies in the games are similar to real conspiracies and that is pretty cool in my opinion. The subject matter mixed with the superb writing and perfect game play were key to my loving the franchise. What do you mean by sandboxy?

It feels like you have this huge world to wander around but nothing to do in the whole world but collect things. And nothing really changes based on what I do. I wish the world was more dynamic.

Oh. I see. Well, those games are great. I loved KOTOR. However, the best thing about Assassins Creed is the story line and if it was sandboxed I feel that that would get muddied.

I did enjoy AC2's story, but at least in the beginning (like most every game, I guess) was slow. I will, probably, one day go back to it. I've always been interested in the series.

I will agree with you there. AC2 didn't do a very good job with the beginning of the game. Also, if you pay close attention, you'll see that the graphics in the opening scene are not fluid like the rest of the game. I kinda got the feeling when I was playing through the very first bit that the developers just kinda threw together something to get you acquainted with the controls.

I wanted so much to love the AssCreed series after the second game, but man did they focus on the wrong things. I enjoyed the first game well enough, in spite of its flaws, but I thought AssCreed 2 was fantastic from start to finish.
In the Zero Punctuation review of the first game, Yahtzee jokingly called it, "Faffing About Creed," and frankly that's all that the games are anymore. In the later games, the free running and assassinations are still fun, but everything else is just so, so pointless. And there's just too damn much "everything else." I'm also one of the idiots who was genuinely curious about the near future/Desmond story line, and like jerks Ubisoft decided that instead of wrapping up that story line at the end of AssCreed 3, they were just going to drag it out in the most ridiculous way possible, so that they could continue their yearly Call of Duty like release schedule. Sigh.

I assume you're talking about revelations?
I'm talking about every game after 2. Revelations, in particular, was a complete waste of time, and I wish I hadn't played it..

I have no idea whether this will be good or not, but man, look at that sexy pixel art! We totally need a pixel porn thread.

While the style and setting excite me a bit, I can't help but think that it looks rather like Mass Effect.
Then again, I love Mass Effect, even the janky shooty bits, so I suppose I shouldn't complain.

Yeah, something does look a bit off about it. I don't really like the look of the UI.

I am certainly looking forward to Batman Arkham Origins, it has a larger map, is a prequel, the Batman you play is like the Batman Year One Batman, plus it features Deathstroke and more and newer enemies.

I was reading about this yesterday.
It reminds me of Everquest Next's recent announcement. if these games can actually deliver, damn will they be awesome. But if they can't...
