Nice! I have a bunch of those, and they are amazing.

Looks like they're really trying to make Equestria Girls more of a thing. After the sequel film (Rainbow Rocks) comes out in September, there's a spin-off series (Equestria Academy) premiering in November. Season 5 of the main series doesn't premier until sometime in 2015. =(

I can't find any information about the spin-off that's more recent than May or so. Has anyone heard anything about it? I'm actually really interested after how much I loved Rainbow Rocks.

(EDIT: This was apparently a misunderstanding. The supposed spin-off was said to be premiering in France, but Equestria Academy is just the French title for the film. =/)

 

As for season 5, it looks like they're aiming for the second quarter of next year, so that's...not too far off I guess? And apparently they teased some episodes at this year's SDCC.

"Teasers for the season were provided by the show staff at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con, including episodes centered around Twilight coping with the loss of the original library, the entire Pie family, Princess Luna dealing with a nightmare, and a 100th special episode [there are 91 so far] focusing on the background characters. The staff also showed a brief animatic video from the first planned episode, showing the ability of Twilight's castle to direct the main characters to problems around Equestria."

 

Also, it's confirmed that they're working on a new feature film that actually focuses on ponies instead of humans~ It's slated for 2017.

I keep encountering videos I need to share. A pair of YouTubers under the name Ink Potts made some animatics for a trio of songs from the Jekyll and Hyde musical titled Doctor Pinkie and Miss Pie. Sadly they aren't planning to do a full animation since that would be a ton of work, but here's a colored version of the final song, which is my favorite.

 

 

I did learn later that someone else is animating this one, but it's still in the works.

First off, season 5 premiers on Saturday.

 

Secondly, I just learned that there are music videos for three songs that did not appear in Rainbow Rocks. They are quite well done.

Rainbow's first solo number ever, her Grinch face, who's on first, reference of thrones, those slippers, Fluttershy's tough love, the bedtime story, and all the feels. So many feels.

So, I have to say, I find it really dumb how they lost that golden statue thing. Like. Really. If Gilda has helped Dash and Pinkie up and then attempted to get the statue thing, she probably could have retrieved it. Instead she had to claw it just close enough that it was left on the edge of the ledge, before she realized 'hey, I should probably prevent their deaths about now.'

Also, I found RD's sudden racism against all griffons kinda weird. I get her being edgy about Gilda, but hating all griffons is a bit weird when her best friend from childhood was a griffon.

Also, imagine how much easier this episode would've been if they had just one unicorn with them. Like, even if it was just Rarity, instead of Twi and all her magic. That map should get better at strategizing.

The idol ultimately wasn't important though. I agree that she could have just grabbed it easily if she had pulled them up first, but I don't think recovering the idol would have really solved the problem. It's too easy.

As for the racism, it was kind weird...until they met the griffons. Then it kind of felt justified. xp

Yeah, but that kind of made the racism weirder, since this is a show aimed at kids. Like, what does that say "hate people you don't know kids, cuz you're probably right"?
