I've watched the Season Premier and the Power Pony episode. Need to dig up the episodes before that. I must say that while it was awesome seeing them do a superhero parody, it felt a little...forced.

I was just neutral towards that episode. It wasn't bad, but not really memorable beyond 'oh, super heroes, k'.

Mane6 (makers of Fighting is Magic) posted a 2013 year-in-review for their project, plus some info on what's to come in 2014. I dunno if anyone here beside me has been following these guys, but just in case, here's the article.
For anyone who didn't know but is curious, Mane6 had been making a pony-themed fighting game, but Hasbro shut that down with a C&D back in February. Since then, they have started working with Lauren Faust to create an original setting with new characters (and they now have a better engine than Fighting Game Maker xp) so that they can still work on their four-legged fighting game.

This is my first Saturday off work in a couple months, so I'm going to celebrate by watching today's episode in real time. :o
The novelty of it all.
EDIT: Also last week's episode which featured the duo of Pinkie Pie and Weird Al was amazing. And musical. As it should be.

I have fallen woefully behind in my ponies. I used to watch them with my roommates as a fun weekend thing to do. Curse you Phoenix with your 'job' vortex that stole my roommates! I need to scratch that pony itch!
In other news, we have a second Equestria Movie coming.
But I'm really confused by the reaction of fans. When the first movie was coming out everyone was freaking out about how horrible it was going to be. Then when it came out, the general reaction was:
Now with the second movie, the reactions have gone back to:
Why are people freaking out again? And why do they keep wanting a gritty, serious movie? It's a children's shown produced by a toy company, of course it is going to be silly! I'm hoping that the voice of reason and tolerance will come out on top. I still need to watch the movie. It was available for rent from some site for 99 cents and I kicked myself when I missed that.

I enjoyed the first movie, setting aside the iffy climax. I don't doubt that I'll be watching the new one. Although...
As for today's episode, it was amazing for so many reasons. I was just a little disappointed in Pinkie. =/

As far as I'm aware, no one wants a 'gritty' movie. People just want a movie with the actual ponies and not their pseudo-human counterparts.

They have a show in it's 4th season, why do they need a movie? No one is demanding an Adventure Time movie. People need to accept that this is a spin-off movie, not a movie for the show.

Personally, I think a movie focusing on the pony world would be more interesting and successful. Mostly because it seems that they've tripped themselves up a bit in the human world with how easily they rely on high school drama and cliches (Twilight meets a boy -> oh noes! Boy is Sunset Shimmer's Ex!!! Gasp!).
While MLP doesn't by any means avoid cliches all of the time, the show seems less inclined to rely on them for every plot development. Also as a plus, the pony world isn't inherently based on anything, so it does leave more room for world building (in contrast to a reality based high school, where there's going to be certain expectations and ideas of what the world is already in place- so world building is going to be nonexistant).
Plus, I think you're misinterpreting peoples reaction to the first movie a little bit. Yeah, everyone basically went 'okay, that wasn't that bad', but that didn't mean it was well loved or that anyone wanted a sequel. I feel like unless this second movie does something unexpected and really impresses, Equestria Girls is going to be wearing out its welcome.

Been getting a lot of CMC lately. Including a Sweetie Belle episode in a couple of weeks.
Me gusta.
