Man, I love this avatar so much. Who did this again? Stars, right? I never said it, but this avatar is amazing, thank you. I plan to use it forever until something else catches my attention, which probably won't happen for a good while.

So I saw the first episode...it was...alright.

It's on Netflix now, though, so I'll probably watch the whole first season soon enough.

I think part of the reason I latched onto it so easily is that I was already somewhat familiar with the characters, and I was interested to see what they're actually like in the show. Especally Fluttershy since, as I've said previously, she was my favorite before I even started watching the series.

Also I tend to latch onto things easily anyway. (See: Scott Pilgrim)

Although, I'm not really liking the show. I kind of hate everyone who isn't Pinkie Pie, Twilight Sparkle, Spike, or Fluttershy. Everyone else is just so...meh. And I have problems with all the characters I do like too. I know it's a kids show but jeez, it doesn't even achieve on the same level as Adventure Time or Powerpuff Girls or whatever, at least not as far as I've seen.

Have you gotten as far as Winter Wrap Up (episode 11) yet? That's probably one of the first really great episodes (to me, anyway), and it features one of the most popular songs in the series.

EDIT: And if at some point you find yourself wanting to drop the show, but you're willing to try one more episode, I recommend skipping ahead to episode 16 (Sonic Rainboom).

Sooo the season finale is kind of amazing. Great songs, crazy antagonist, epic ending. I do believe I shall have to watch it a second time right this very moment.

EDIT: I keep replaying the aria from the beginning of part 2. I've seen a number of comments calling it Disney-quality (in a good way), and I'm inclined to agree. Daniel Ingram is amazing.

EDIT 2: I just realized how ironic the previous episode's moral is when juxtaposed to these episodes.

In MMMystery on the Friendship Express, Pinkie learns not to jump to conclusions and accuse someone without any proof.
During the wedding preparations in the finale, Twilight finds some circumstantial evidence against the princess and proclaims that "She's evil!" Then at the end, she's commended for following her instincts. =/

EDIT 3: Seriously, the aria is beautifully done.

I keep listening to the aria, too. :p It is really good, and I liked Shining Armor and Cadence a lot more than I thought I would. I'm also glad that they went for more of an epic feel with this episode. :3

Though seriously, I do hope that one day we get an explanation for Luna never appearing during the day, even if it's a minor one. Cuz that really bugged me with this episode.

I doubt there's anything to that idea, but now I can't stop thinking about it. It could make for an interesting season 3 premier.

Heh, nothing to do with anything recent, but I just learned that Apple Bloom was originally going to be Appleseed. Then of course there were copyright issues that necessitated the change. =p
And Big Macintosh was Big Apple, changed for similar reasons I imagine.

EDIT: Huh, I'm not quite sure why Grizelda (Gilda) had to be changed.

EDIT 2: Pinkie Pie was originally going to be a pegasus (with Fluttershy being an Earth Pony). That actually sounds scary. And amazing.
(I knew about that part already, but I'm poking through old sketches of Lauren Faust's, and "hummingbird" Pinkie reminded me of the fact.)

I had a sudden thought while listening to the song B.B.B.F.F. I wondered if the same guy who voiced Kira Yamato in Gundam SEED was also the voice of Shining Armor and proceeded to look him up. Turns out he didn't voice Shining Armor, but he has done voice work for the show (as Soarin' of the Wonderbolts). I was disappointed that my hunch was wrong, but I still found it amusing that the guy voiced a pony. Bit of a change from the only other role I know him from.

It surprises me how many voice actors are Canadian. 99% of this show's actors are, for instance.

I think this is true for all voice actors. An insane amount come from Canada. Same goes for comedians. And musicians. What does America do again?

Hollywood. i.e. live action stuff. Very few canadians there.
