really like the 8 bit versions, but they're a little low res. i want everything to sound similar with regards to quality. i really want to use this too:



the two guitarists playing live doesn't match either, but it's awesome nontheless. i have a hard time picturing you looking through devildriver songs i like to use really technical music for battle/boss themes. This song was the main boss' theme for a while, i just played it with words and all because i couldn't cut it.

Finntroll is great. they play traditional folk instruments and sing in Finnish.

This is the new inspiration for the title screen. i really like the moon highlighting the tree's profile.

Agreed, it's a nice effect. Are you going to try mixing that with your current title screen somehow, or are you thinking of making a new one from it?

totally new. im trying to figure out how to emulate the watercolor looking effect in illustrator. i really like the flat look of vector graphics, and i live the aesthetic of skyward sword. but if i don't want it to look flat it's a pain to do in illustrator.

new collage guide for what it will look similar to. i'm going to try and imply that the tree is sitting on an island, and there is another island far away sitting on a foggy sea.

I HAVE been working on my game, just not so much on the game as I have with the art, the music, the sounds, and fixing bugs. I've also been looking at different scripts, and rewriting big chunks of the story to fit with stuff i'm thinking about now, as opposed to five years ago. Case in point: New Demo!

terrible question. never ask anyone 'what gives' it makes you look like you're tragically stuck in a 1980's highschool comedy about trying to cheat on your mid terms so you can get good grades and your parents let you go to the Sadie Hawkins dance, or something equally stupid. Honestly, you should have just studied instead of staying up all night breathing on your hyper color t-shirts and drinking PBR.
but i digress
The reason it's so small, is because it's not a true demo. it's more of a snapshot of what i've done so far in the physical program. it's 9 maps highlighting what started out as a time wasting fetch quest, but now has a lot more depth, and will lead to a stronger introduction for one of the main antagonists than what I had originally planned.
Originally, there was to be a vacant house that the main character 'won' in a lottery. that was dumb. this is slightly less dumb: the characters are sent out to hunt a big carnivorous beast called the Basatrix, and are kidnapped in the blink of an eye. it's kind of like how the people in Nightmare On Elm Street movies just 'fall asleep' without realizing it.
but enough about that. please play the demo, it should work, and give me feedback. one last thought: if you're epileptic, it's probably not a good idea to play it. there are flashing lights and other stuff that could potentially trigger a seizure. not even joking.

do iiiiiiit! i need people to play so i can make it better! i can't 'finish' it without any feedback, otherwise it will be like one of those trash sculptures homeless people make. i vaguely remember reading someone's guide for how to make rm games work on a ps3 or 360, i'll research it specifically for you.

I already liked this game even without actually playing it. It's got style.

+1 for that.i'll have to make a "let's play" video. the last demo took me about 3.5 hours, and that's WITH knowing all the solutions to the puzzles, and where the best gear is. it would probably take an extra 1.5 hours without prior knowledge.

OH YEAH BY THE WAY I FIXED THE DAMN PROBLEM!


HERE'S HOW IT WAS FIXED

1. make a new folder on the desktop.
2. start a new project in rmxp.
3. take EVERYTHING from the original folder, copy into the new project's folder.
4. overwrite everything in the new folder when it asks during the copy
5. ???
6. TEST PLAY WORKS! (also profit i guess)
i don't know why/how it works, i just know it worked for me, and i was able to test play my game again. it's going to take a little bit for the idea that i just saved my project to hit me, but i feel SO much better. i could probably write a book by now about how to fix problems in rmxp, and how to mcguyver one's way around not knowing how to script. it hasn't hit me yet that i saved the day, but i feel a lot better. i was so depressed i had to drink a 40 of colt 45. now i can't type or walk straight. also i'm adding a screencap of your post to my facebook fanpage so my measly 13 fans can see it.
