We've made too many compromises already, too many retreats. They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far and no further!

It's the start of a new series by my favorite fantasy author. The book stars Aran, a once-great rogue/warrior of an exiled clan who's now more or less a drunkard. He and his familiar (his own shadow that can mold into a dragon!) learn that someone else from his clan is still alive, and out against him. The backstory and characters are all really well-developed, and the action is very tense. Definitely would recommend based on what I've read so far.

God. That book makes me feel feels. It really bummed me out and it has me feeling all weird. I don't even know.

I had the same reaction to that book. I never finished it for some reason./>So I "read" (listened) to Norwegian Wood for the first time in a long time.

Currently I am reading blogs. Lots of blogs.
Oh and I'm reading The Revolution of Everyday Life by Raoul Vaneigem again.
I wanted orange. It gave me lemon-lime...

Never finished it for a bad reason or because it is overwhelming?/>

My mistake, I was thinking of the Wind-Up Bird Chronicles by the same author. I think I only got about halfway in before getting distracted by a different book. Not sure why I never returned to it./>

I was like 17 when I read it I think. It lingered a lot on Japanese history that I was unfamiliar with, which lost me a little. Other than that it was actually very enjoyable, just left me feeling a bit weird./>I haven't read Wind-Up Bird Chronicles, but I was planning on it soon, but now I don't know.
I've just started reading Porno by Irvine Welsh. It's very readable, if a little Scottish.

I forgot to post about it at the time, but after that random snow storm we had a while back, I got through four more books of the Dresden Files (White Night, Small Favor, Turn Coat, and Changes) by the end of spring break, which brought me to the end of my collection so far. I think we've got some employee appreciation days coming up at Barnes & Noble around May, so I plan to get the next couple books then. (There's a short story compilation and two more novels at present, though the latest one isn't available in paperback yet, so I'll wait on that one for now.)

Just started The Forever War by Joe Haldeman. Been loving me some sci fi lately.
The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.
