That's too bad. ): (Haha, kidding.)

I know they're still coming out with them, at least. If they're different...Hmm, maybe I'll give them a shot.

Finished The Bourne Identity and left it in Holland so my brother-in-law can read it and return it next summer. Other than the main concept and character names, it is almost nothing like the movie. It was definitely good though. I love the personality and detail Ludlum puts into what would be unimportant background characters in most other stories. I'm particularly fond of the movers near the end and the various taxi drivers throughout.

EDIT: I saw Matt Damon in The Adjustment Bureau and thought of Kamau. It was funny because the Adjusters (dunno if they had an official name) reminded me of the Observers from Fringe (only not as cool), which then made me think of Spaz.

I haven't seen that yet. ): But I saw Here After! That has him in it too <3

I'm currently reading Sue Henry's Murder At Five Finger Light. I took it out from the library because I wanted to reread it, but it turns out that I own it and that I (may not have) read it yet because the spine wasn't creased. Haha. It's good!

Technically it's a comic book, but I'm in the middle of Y: The Last Man. It's about the last dude on Earth. Kinda.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot, I also started Goodbye 20th Century which is a biography on Sonic Youth, one of my most favorite bands.

I started The Phantom Tollbooth at work yesterday (my Hitchhiker's Guide book is hardback, so that stays at home). It's definitely a kid's book (250 pages, but with quick dialogue and plenty of pictures), but it's very witty and entertaining. I remember waching the movie a bunch when I was younger, so I thought I'd see how the book was. I'm already 2/3 through after one work shift, so I expect I'll finish it today.

EDIT: Okay, I feel the need to share a couple of the word plays from the book. In the city of Dictionopolis, they rode in a car that "goes without saying," so you have to be quiet or it won't move. Then in Digitopolis (where I am now), the Mathemagician teleported the main characters across his city "simply by carrying the three." That last one made me do the xD face and prompted me to post about it.

I started reading Marvel's "Runaways" today while browsing a local bookstore. I'd love to read more of it (the store only had volumes 1, 3, and 8, and I didn't want to read 8).

Also reading Such a Pretty Face, by Cathy Lamb. I picked it up, read it for a few hours (still in the bookstore), then took it home with me. :D

I feel like if I didn't have to read half the crap in school I would actually enjoy them. Since I more or less had to, for a report or something, I just kinda read it to get through it. I have plans to read On Stranger Tides by Tim Powers.

Since I've been watching lots of Haruhi lately, and I've got a couple days off work, I finally started the first light novel. Figured it was about time since I already own 5 of them.

I'm just a little ways in, but I'm loving it so far. I am a little surprised, though, that the anime seems to follow it more closely than the manga does.

That's because the light novels are the source material. The manga was adapted from the anime which was adapted from the light novels, which is why I think they're the superior medium for this story. The manga is watered down.

I'm glad you finally got around to them :D

Finished Melancholy this morning and started Sigh. Melancholy was pretty much exactly like the anime, except the meeting with Yuki came after Koizumi arrived, and kyon had the camera when Haruhi "acquired" the PC. Other than that, I was impressed by how close they got the anime.

I should start reading those.

Started reading this sweet Elliott Smith biography by Autumn de Wilde. It's not a straightforward bio in that it's told through interviews of friends/musicians. Comes with nice photographs and a CD!

I just finished reading all of Ranma 1/2!

Legit book wise, I'm currently reading In the Serpent's Coils, by Tiffany Trent. It's book one of the Hallowmere series. I'm not sure how I feel about this book. On one hand, I am enjoying the secondary characters. But on the other hand, the main character and I aren't quite agreeing with how often she keeps changing her mind about how she feels. "I fear them! But they can't be bad because-! But they're evil! But they helped me with-! That man terrifies me! But I want to be near him!" ...Meh.

Just finished The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya, which is actually a collection of short stories (there seems to be several such volumes in the series). The first couple of shorts (the eponymous baseball story and "Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody") were good and about the same as their anime counterparts. The other two - "Mysterique Sign" and "Remote Island Syndrome" - were also good, but the anime definitely improved upon each of them, especially the last story. It did, however, alude to another mystery story that appears in the fifth book and wasn't shown in the anime, so that should be interesting.

Next up is The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, which I have quite been looking forward to.

EDIT: I've notied that whoever writes the summaries fo the back covers doesn't appear to have actually read the stories. They keep slipping up with things like "Nagato, the time-travelling robot."

I've seen slip-ups that are worse than that. =D When I was last at Barnes and Nobles, I came across a series by Caitlin Kittredge. Two of the books in her Nocturne City series have the exact same back cover writing. The coloration of both covers match the book they refer to, but the words, from the prologue at the top to the summary in the middle, to even the three reviews at the bottom of the page are absolutely identical. I was so disappointed that I didn't have my camera with me to take a legit photo, but I snapped one with my phone just so I could find the titles again.

Still working through Hallowmere, though I'm almost done with it now.

Finished The Rampage of Haruhi Suzumiya (also the last one I own so far), which was the first book with a story that wasn't put in the anime: "Snowy Mountain Syndrome," somewhat a sequel to "Remote Island Syndrome." I can only hope that something comes of all the foreshadowing that was dripping from it.

On a side note, I noticed just now that the movie is finally up for pre-order on Amazon. Yay~

Next up to read is...I dunno yet. There's no more Haruhi until November, so I guess I'll move on the the couple of Rave Master volumes I got at a used book yesterday.

The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.
