Cadmian's Choice- book 5, of the Corean Chronicles by L. E. Modesitt. Definitely one of my favorite series. Almost done with this book and ready to reread the next one, Soarer's Choice.

I'm reading Sputnik Sweetheart.

Dear god does this book just make me depressed. I do enjoy it, though.

Got volume 7 of the Haruhi manga today, and it has the first part of the Disappearance story that the movie is about. I haven't seen the movie (dunno if it's available anywhere yet), so I'm pumped to see how it resolves.

I always forget to post in this topic. So I forgot if I posted about Sputnik Sweetheart.

But I finished that a while ago. It was pretty good, probably not the best Murakami book. But good.

I'm trying to finally finish A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering of Genius. Which I also enjoy...it just can't keep my attention for all too long, sadly.

Perhaps the one book I hate more than any other. At first I thought the title was going to be some clever self-referential twist or something, but no... Truly the most self-indulgent wanky pish I've ever read. And it was horrendously written! I could barely get through a couple of paragraphs before just wanting to burn the book or defecate on it or something. Few books effect me like that. I'd heard such positive things before I bought it too!

I haven't really had the chance to read much fiction lately but I did purchase Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut the other day, and I think this may be the book to ease me back in to it.

Recently, I've been fascinated by the overlap between Graph Theory and Social Network Analysis, so yesterday I read both Six Degrees and Small Worlds by Duncan J. Watts, Today, I intend to read Sync by Steven Strogatz and Emergence by Steven Johnson. If I get bored, I will possibly finish Catch-22 for the first time.

Finished The Princess Bride (which was marvelous, as expected) and have moved on to the Narnia books. I've only ever read the first two books, but that was back in elementary, and I hardly remember anything from them (except for what I know from the various films of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe), so I'm rereading those as well. They look to be quick reads, so I should be able to shorten my "list" a fair bit without much trouble.

EDIT: Finished The Magician's Nephew just now. I feel compelled to mention that it has a talking tapir in it. Only for one line and a few pictures, but there it is.

Finished Prince Caspian yesterday, so now I'm on The Voyage of the Dawn Trader (and using my Dawn Treader movie ticket stub as bookmark =p). It's been interesting to see what changes they had to make to turn these into movies. As for The Horse and His Boy, it was fairly interesting, but I can see why they skipped it for the adaptations.

I've also been reading Magic Knight Rayearth online. I'm finished with part one and just started part two this afternoon. It's kinda like Cardcaptor Sakura mixed with a JRPG. And I hadn't known this ahead of time, but it's also the series where Mokono comes from. =o

After I finish the Narnia books, I plan to (finally) start reading the Haruhi Suzumiya light novels to see if they're as wonderful as Rekaru claims them to be.

Taking a break from Narnia after finishing The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. In the meantime, I've begun The Maltese Falcon, which admittedly I was supposed to have read last spring for one of my classes. >_> <_<

Finished an Argentinian murder mystery called "The Book of Murder." Unreliable narrator, crazy characters, good stuff.

Just started a mystery novel called "All She Was Worth," written by Miyuki Miyabe. Not sure how much I like it yet. Only 50 pages in.

I'm currently working on A People's History of Science. It's convincing me to go back and reread another good book, A People's History of the United States.

I've been wanting to read a bit of Lovecraft lately. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I finished up the Naria books on Sunday (read The Last Battle in one afternoon). I had planned to read the Haruhi light novels next, but I needed something to bring with me to read at work and didn't want to risk getting coffee spilled on a hardback book. The Sci-Fi section of my "list" is by far the longest, so I decided to finally start Speaker for the Dead.

I just finished the Intro and Prologue; I had no idea he had made Ender's Game into a novel just to set up the background for this book. I'm expecting good things from it.

EDIT: And now I have finished Speaker for the Dead. In less than two days. With many hours taken up by work or school. Not since Harry Potter have I read a book this fast, I think.

It seems only right that I start Xenocide tomorrow.

Exciting, I know.

The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead.

Finished Xenocide a short while ago. Planning to start Children of the Mind tomorrow.

I might go straight on to the rest of the "Shadow" books after that, but I haven't decided yet.

I finished reading Confessor yesterday and it was so awesome! Anyone who loves fantasy should read it. But you would read the first ten books before that.
