So, let's talk about E3, k? I missed most of the Bethesda conference, but since they didn't announce a new Elder Scrolls, I mean, a real new Elder Scrolls, I don't feel so bad about that. Fallout 4 looks swell enough, though.
I'm currently watching the Microsoft conference. I think we're nearly at the end. Some thoughts:
- Halo still looks boring as all get out. I don't think even Nathan Fillion can save it.
- So do most of the exclusive first party titles.
- That new controller looks like it's going to take away some of the thunder from the Steam controller. This is equal parts good and bad.
- Mods for Fallout 4 on a console? Neat.
- The indie game presentation was pretty exciting, actually. Some neat looking things in there.
- My favorite part was the Day Z creator talking about how he doesn't want scripted games, and his presentation is immediately followed up by the heavily scripted Tomb Raider game play reveal. Nicely done.
- Rare Replay. Neat.
- I will update as more things happen.
- Forgot to list it sooner, but the backwards compatibility is pretty nice, I suppose. For those who can take advantage of it.
- Fable still does nothing for me. I really disliked the first game, so to hecks with that.
- Recore looks promising. Keiji Inafune and dudes from Retro studios? Yes, please. Here's the hoping for a PC version.
- So apparently if you have an X-Box or a PC, you're completely covered for VR gaming. Wonder how Morpheus is going to stack up to that.
- Spaz just totally geeked out over the Holo Lens/Minecraft demo. I wonder what potential the holo lens has for other forms of table top gaming?
- New gears of war is... well, gears of war. I hope it's titled: Gears of War: Physics.
- I also forgot to mention Ashen, which I really, really, really hope comes to PC.
Final thought on the Microsoft conference: Much better than the last few years. First party action games still don't look very interesting, at all, but there's definitely a lot going for the system. Holo Lens, indie games, and backwards compatibility are cool.
