So, a new pokemon has been revealed. It's called Ninfia.



It's apparently the newest eeveelution. Though, if it is, I can't imagine what type it is (hasn't been revealed), and I also find it odd that it wouldn't follow the 'eon' naming scheme. (edit: though, then again, Glaceon and Leafeon's Japanese names were Leafia and Glacia, so it would probably be called Ninfeon or something in the English version)

Yeah, the original Japanese Eeveelutions had names like Showers (Vaporeon).

This one kinda looks like it might be an improved Normal form. Although with "nin" in its name, it could be something ninja related, either Fighting or Poison (though it looks thoroughly unpoisonous and not particularly combatitive).

It has to either be Normal or some kind of brand new type maybe.

It doesn't look like it could be anything else except maybe a Dragon. Plus it's weird that that one arrow that links Eevee and whatever it is separate from the one linking Eevee and the others.

The only way I could see it being a fighting type is if they're going for the 'cute, but deadly' thing, but I think it's more likely that it'd be Normal. though, that seems kind of lame when Eevee starts out as a Normal type anyhow. Like, why go for that, when you have a Dragon eeveelution, or a flying type? Or bug?

Some of them might end up sounding weird, but they would at least result in more different and interesting designs... rather than this pink, ribboned thing. (It's cute, I'll admit, but there are plenty of cute, pink things in pokemon, so the appeal is 'eh'.

Maybe the reason for that is that it's going to be a legendary eevielutuion

but it's a lot more likely because that is the one on the box.

But sylphs are wind elementals, assuming that's what you're taking from that name. Which... could make sense. maybe. the ribbons kind of seemed feather-reminiscent with how they're patterned at the end. Still, a flying type without wings would be a little sad (unless it changes forms or something).

Well flying was my first thought based off the name, but the video on serebii shows it using some weird moves that don' really look like flying.

I'm sticking with a theory of Normal for now.

More like I saw other people discussing it in YouTube comments, and it seemed legit. :p

I am leading toward Normal or Flying. I can see them going with Normal quite easily. All of the other evolutions are based on the types that were originally Special types, barring Dragon. Now a cute, little Eevee evolving into a Dragon type seems weird. Instead it would make sense to have a pure Normal type as an option of Eevee not going down a different type path. The color scheme Sylveon appears to be similar to many Normal types, too. Flying is a possibility because of the flowing ribbons it has and it would be cool to have a pure, Flying type that isn't a legendary genie. Right now, I believe Normal is most likely. Sure beats these scenarios:

But to be honest, I can't help but think that a Dragon type would be awesome. XD Though, I think I'd be disappointed if Sylveon turned out to be that type. =/

I have to wonder, will there be another eeveelution for this game? Barring the first Gen, all other evolutions were released in pairs, so it'd make sense. At least, I kinda hope they do, since I don't find this one particularly interesting...

Another insight I gathered from YouTube comments (who'd have thunk it?) is that - since these games are coming out for the 3DS - the names X and Y (and presumably Z down the road) could pertain to the X-axis and so forth. It makes a certain kind of sense since the Y (vertical) legendary can fly, and the X (horizontal) legendary is earthbound. Maybe we'll have Sylveon as a new Flying-type plus another Eeveelution that's a Ground type. Maybe the Z (depth) legendary and Eeveelution will be Ghost types or something.
