Okay, hopefully it should be working now.

I've updated the server and now I have more options to do with monster spawning. I might experiment with trying to get a small amount of monsters to spawn. I think I can turn creepers off for now.

I logged in fine, logged off to see if I could log in as my pirated username, and that didn't work. Then I tried logging in with my legit username and it wouldn't let me in.

I was in for a second!

I also went spelunking in the cave I talked about in a previous post. Lots of resources, and it's quite extensive. I got lost, so I dug my way out (and ended up surprisingly close to home). However, when I got back to the surface, I found this:

Yup, I wanted to build somewhere with a view of the floating garden above the library.

It's just an invisible chunk. They happen sometimes. If you walk onto them they usually fix themselves.

I believe that means I would have to make it out of purely glass. The walls, the roof, the floor, the staircases, everything! If I could make glass weapons I would damn it and say they were ice.

I also had a nightmare the other night where Minecraft was no longer blocky and the cows looked like real life cows and digging made lumpy shaped holes and my god it was all just so horrible. I felt like someone had ruined the game!

So I've been experimenting with monsters and I can now exert a bit more control over their spawn behavior. I played for an hour or so with just zombies turned on and quite enjoyed it. It's a very different mentality playing with monsters on though and some people may not prefer it. On the other hand, monsters are necessary to be able to build TNT and bows.

Anyways, what do you guys think? Monsters: Yay or nay?

I don't mind the monsters. I'm a lot better at handling them than I used to be. With the warp points, and no creepers, it should be fine.

Lag is my only concern. They are quite difficult when the game lags.

Don't do that please. On Invince's server I made my entire ceiling out of glass and it took FOREVER. You can made snow blocks though. Just use 4 snowballs to make a block. It's not as cool as glass for ice, but way less time consuming.

True that. The top half of my fort is basically all glass and it's taken hours and hours I should be spending in real life. :P

And I say monsters are a-ok.

I think having monsters on is preferable. It's part of the experience of the game, Spiders and Creepers drop valuable materials, forces people to be creative with defenses or hiding or whatever, and then the funny stories that are sure to follow. Hell, I'd be tempted to farm monsters. Can't remember if it's possible to move monster spawner cages though...I know if you destroy them a certain way they become pig spawners but...

Sorry, I kind of figured you guys would all be at super sexy parties in celebration of new years. I took the opportunity to boot into windows and play some Planescape Torment.

Also, according to the server.properties file the name of the world is "monkeycraft". But I don't think that should stop you from coming up with a better name.

EDIT: I'm off to super sexy parties now. So I'll restart the server for all those people who don't have super sexy parties to go to because they're not super sexy. Unlike me. I'm super sexy. Party time.
