I did the same thing with video games man. It's like being an alcoholic. You're doing find for years without it, and then you think, "Oh, I'll just play one game, it won't hurt."
And the next thing you know you have almost 200 unplayed games in steam. What a joke.
Or, to put it more politely, "Neener neener."

I barely played games until I got my new job. Then I bought a PS3. Then a Vita. Then a 3DS. Then a Wii U. And then a new GPU to go with all my Steam purchases. And no time to really play them because my new job that allows me to buy these things also requires a lot if my time.
But I kind of always have shopping issues. Before that it was books and music (which I still kind of have issues with).

This is why I started writing down everything I spend money on. It helped me realize how many frivolous purchases I was making.
Then again, I still have a hundred or so excess Steam games and dozens of unread books... BUT it would certainly be much worse if I hadn't started keeping track.

With steam games, I've had to limit it to specific purchases. I've been adding games that I'm really, really interested in to my wish list, and limiting my purchases to those only. It has helped me cut out several impulsive purchased.
