I've discovered a new love for Zelda. I can actually beat Shadow when I play as her, and the only time I button mashed was when I needed to get rid of an item, since I couldn't figure out which ones to press.

I totally agree with you that BN was the better series. I think most everyone who's played the BN series agrees too.4 was decent. Then 5 was just meh. 6 was alright too.I hope you mean the first three, the others suuuuuuuuck.I wish they were more like Battle NetworkMegaman SF3. You will also be happy to know that the SF games get better as you go from 1-3 and that the third one... well, I think you would actually enjoy. I think it's like the happy medium between the two.
instead of the sideview where you go up and down the column (as in sf 1 and 2), the view is from behind megaman, looking forward to the other rows of the enemies in the back.
The style system isn't back, but close. The noise form works the same way the styles did, i think. I know I keep getting the same noise forms the same. unlike the old soul and sync systems, where you gain them as you run through the story, you may earn them if you fight the random battle with 3 buffed up viruses.
The noise system is interesting, as it relies on how much overkill your killing attack had. And not just any attack- a non-dimming NON-ELEMENTAL attack. Yeah... so you either have to go for an all neutral element folder to really rack up the noise or mostly forgo the noise and the elemental benefits by having a folder of elemental chips that work well with each other and your style of fighting. that part sucks. Although they do make it better by altering that for pvp and boss battles.
Another half good, half anoying thing is that if you get high enough noise in a battle, you'll get an illegal card (mostly cards that appeared in the SF2 game) that has nothing to do with the viruses you just deleted. You could actually get SF2 'navi cards' in this way and even standard cards for other viruses that weren't in the fight. If you can manage to get a lot of noise and ALSO get an S busting level, it's possible to earn 2 or 3 illegal/random cards from the one battle. The bad thing about that, is if you have a good noise producing folder going, it's going to earn you noise almost no matter what you do and you'll be getting illegal cards, even if you wanted what the virus could give you (i need more Bushido 3's).
One good thing they changed. The 2 rows of 3 cards you can choose from. instead of just choosing from the same column (limiting you to 2 cards plus any white cards), you may choose instead to take the whole row (3 cards plus white cards). But in exchange, you can only download sets of 4 white cards. you don't get to choose the white cards, like in sf2, and they're in addition to the 30 cards in your folder. so if you're lucky, the ones you can download work with your folder. If not, you can turn them off and they won't appear in your folder during battle. Still way better than the old Chip Letter system. (some cards are still white cards but not in the sets. they're your invis, atk+10, panel changing cards and the like.)
There's also another new interesting system that can be good and annoying at times. The support use function. Sometimes, cards will be in the custom screen on top of other cards. usually just one is under a card, but it can be up to 3, and are darkened. Now, you can't use the darkened chips, not as the attack they are. Unless you really want to enter battle with that one card. Seriously, if you still want to use that card, you can, but you cannot choose any other cards to go with it (you usually only do this for giga cards, and even rarely for giga class cards). Instead you can use them as support cards.
Depending on the element of the card, they will become different cards. If you use them this way, their position in the row or column doesn't matter as far as limiting your choice. In this regard, they're like white cards.
non-element: becomes panel eater. you can only still move on the one row you have, as per SF games, but this eats the row you're on and moves you up to the next row, so you're closer to your enemies. Because some attacks have a short range AND can't use the lock-on function to rush up closer and hit. Great for sword folders and the like.
Water: becomes an invis card. Yep, water folders are good for some stealth action without having to put in invises into slots you want for attack cards.
Fire: becomes atk+10. rather lame. you can turn your lvl3, widespread, 220pt damaging taurus into a little old atk+10.
Wood: becomes wood panel card. of course, it only turns your enemies' ares into grass panels, but it's good for setting up them fire attacks
Elec: becomes paralyze+. Like the water support effect, it's good because you can use it to modify easy to hit/screen dimming attacks to set up a heavy, hard to hit a moving target attack without sacrificing attk card slots in your folder.
Instead of bug frags, you collect noise frags. they basically function the same- trade 'em in to some trader somewhere for good/random cards.
So yeah, I find that SF3 is way better than 1 and 2. I think you guys would enjoy it. Plus, it'd give us something to play online if you can connect to wifi. And so far, it doesn't seem to have any really broken cards and combos and in-game codes/cheats that enhance your abilities- as was in the case in sf2. In SF2, if your folder wasn't centered on controlling your opponent with paralyzing and/or freezing effects (and sometimes bubbling), as well as tossing in those totally broken, overpowered giga and mega class chips, you were screwed from the get-go. That's something most gamers learned the hard way their first online battles. I only learned the hard way that the leo GX giga chip was broken (1k+ damage), along with other giga chips. otherwise, my own ice panel+water attacks+paralyzing elec attacks+ paralyze+s actually got me a long undefeated streak for a while there, even when they had maxe link power and stuff to get their hp to 3k+ against my brother-bandless 1600. I think I'm 25 wins/29 battles in SF2.
