It's not hard. The campaign starts nice and easy, and doubles as a tutorial.

The many few starting missions were a piss in the park for me, as I've played the first Advance Wars so much... heheh....

Since there's some interest in it, I now present to you the single best moment in the entirety of Mass Effect.

(Warning, some minor, minor spoilers. Nothing plot related)

Wow, Mass Effect for PC. Huh. o.o

Now I dunno if I want to get the 360 version! I dunno about everyone else, but Mass Effect just SEEMS like a 360 game to me. That's because it came out on 360 first, hurrr, but it seems more suited to that than a PC. I'll have to decide which version I want to pick up now! Damn you, Bioware!

That has a reason, bioware wasn''t allowed to distribute it to the pc, but after they bought this company (don''t know wich one anymore) they revieved permission to openly do as they like with the game, so now it comes to the pc as they originally planned it in the beginning.

Well...I don't know what I'm doing. I was playing some Sim City 3000 last night, feel like playing either some of the original The Sims or Diablo II. Need to go back and play some Tales of the Abyss...if I get downstairs computer time, god knows what I'll try and play.

Because I'm almost as compulsive as Vicious, I bought the original Half-Life anthology through Steam yesterday and got started on HL1 this afternoon. The only previous experience I've had with it was when I was about 13 and hadn't played any "scary" games yet, so needless to say I was quite frantic when fighting off the first couple zombies and didn't play much farther than that. Now that I've become interested in Half-Life 2, I decided I might as well get the back story and play the original. Since it was only $5 extra, I got Opposing Force and Blue Shift as well, just for kicks.

On an unrelated note, I also downloaded the demo for The Longest Journey from Steam. I've heard that it's supposed to be pretty good, but I think I'd like it better if my character didn't walk so freaking slow. Even when the ship I was on in the demo was in the middle of a mini-hurricane, she just sauntered around lazily like she had all the time in the world (which I suppose she did, seeing as how nothing ever happens until you solve a puzzle).

I have the Orange Box, and I want to finish the first Half Life before I start the second.
But, starting the generator thing, or something, right after working my way around that weird huge Three Tentacled Claw monster thing, I couldn't figure out, and didn't have enough health from my last save to survive this one electrified pool of water, or something.... I stopped playing for a while, and foolishly switched to Linux before I got the urge to play it again.

Ah well.

I also started re-playing Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow today. (since I had finished Aria the other day, felt the urge)
I remember why I didn't finish it.... Portrait of Ruin was much more fun, in my opinion. [i](especially once I unlocked Richter mode. That was awesome fun on hard.)

Well, I'll have to put my DS gaming on hold.

It still works, both top and bottom parts, but hell if it's... As easy as it once was.

Who knew that these things could break just from years of use.
Nintendo seems to have gone the opposite direction since the NES days. Super-high physical quality of their stuff nowadays, it seems.

Ouch, Argus, that sucks.

Also, Stars and Argus, you guys should know that there isn't exactly a lot of "back story" in the original Half-Life game. It's still a good game, mind you. But all you really need to know is that a place called Black Mesa caused some crazy crap to happen, Gordon Freeman escapes, and kills a lot of things. And the G-Man kind of kidnaps him in the end. Gordon and the G-Man are the only actual recurring characters (since the Black Mesa alumni from HL2 didn't actually have names in HL1). Though, don't let me stop you from playing HL1. I'm just saying that it's not really all that necessary.

And The Longest Journey is an interesting game. A bit too wordy at times, and so far as I can tell the much praised plot is fairly generic. But I've enjoyed what I've played so far.

Ouch, Argus, that sucks.

What hurts me most is that all the sentimental value I placed in my DS is now mostly for naught but an extremely extravagant alarm clock, now.
Two years with its non-stop use kind of makes it feel like I've lost a friend.... Or at least, one that is suddenly a paraplegic that can't go anywhere. I don't love it any less, I just can't take it anywhere...

Well, it was due for a replacement anyways. The touch screen was so off-kilter that I couldn't play Elite Beat Agents (or most anything needing a touch screen) if I tried. Many hours spent re-calibrating only served to worsen its condition.
Ah well.... C'est la Nintendo.

Personally? Hated the Orange Box. To death.
Portal was the only good thing in it, everything else sucked and died.
After finishing portal I promptly traded it in towards Mass Effect and only felt the pangs of regret when my girlfriend started playing and I never got a chance to play it again. ;_; Damn fine game.

On to other things:
Currently playing Devil May Cry 4 (Kickass!) and Lost Odyessy (Ehh...meh.)
If you're a DMC fan and liked 3, you'll love 4. They basicly take the same formula and monkey with it just enough to make it better. (IE: Dante's 'styles' are changeable in real time now instead of having to have to wait until the mission menu to change them.)

Lost Odyessy is hard to . . .compliment. It's obviously just a big wannabe Final Fanatsy. (Omeg. Music by nobou! 4 disks long! Guy with hair in his face!) But it falls extremely short of the mark and makes me thank square over and over for making such fine Jrpgs in the last era of gaming. That being said, in a sea of First Person Shooters and sports games, Lost Odyessy has made its way into my 360 with a fine reception simply for the fact that it IS an RPG and I can SEE MY GODDAMN CHARACTER(s).
The beggining of the game is dull, hard to swallor and/or so emo you want to shoot yourself in the foot by the end of the first disk. Part way through the second you see things that are happening that are supposed to be 'mysterious' and you're like 'wtf. I know what's gonna happen.' Other than that, the game has a solid turn-based combat system, fantastic music and alright graphics. I mean. . .I've yet to see a full blown FMV. Everything happens in-game graphics. Makes my heart hurt.

Man, if you're going to have a cutscene and it's going to be voiced / acted out by the characters do one thing.
DO IT RIGHT.
Cut it out of the in-game sequence and make it into a Full Motion Video! That's one of the things I liked about Final Fnatasy 7+
The FMVs are great, and they made you feel a sense of accomplishment. You were like 'Damn that was cool. I want to see another one.'
It was like a cattleprod to get you through it. It gives the story telling another dimension and makes it more interesting.
=_= Especially in a next-gen game like Lost Odyessey. It gets annoying after a while and when they do cutscenes, you can't really tell
that they're in-game until they do closeups. It's like they were trying to showcase 'WHAT WE CAN DO WITH IN GAME MODELS HA HA HA.'
Yes, well you know what I can do with a REAL LIFE FOOT!? <Kicks the movie director in the caljones>
THAT IS WHAT I CAN DO WITH A REAL LIFE FOOT!
