What are you playing?

They now have my name, address, phone number and debit card number, even though I was given 30 days of free play with the purchase of the game itself. I guess they needed either a debit/credit card or a game time card, because before you can decide whether or not you like the game and want to keep playing, you must pay even more money to commit to maybe playing the game. Blah.
EDIT:
You would think that as a PC gamer, and an admitted Steam fanboy, that I would have no problems jumping through hoops to get a game working. For some reason, however, I am enraged by this whole thing.

Ought to finish that last chapter of HL2: Episode 2 first though. I've reached what I assume is the final battle of the episode.

The concept of the game is interesting enough. There are 9 people, you have 9 hours to get out, and there are doors labeled 1 through 9 (multiple doors have the same number, but only one has the 9) that you have to get through by solving puzzles with the various people.
I also like the fact that it's by the makers of Phoenix Wright, so the graphics are really cool looking.
However.
It's a novel. They describe everything to me at the bottom of the screen, as though I'm reading an actual novel. "The sweat glistened off the back of his neck. He glanced around, eyes taking in everything, understanding nothing. Why was he here? Where was here? His arms trembled with exhaustion from his ordeal." (I just made that up. but that's exactly what they're doing to me for the entire game so far.) I hate it!
I also hate how they're "explaining" things to me over and over. And over. And over. For instance, the first puzzle of the game comes with instructions on how to complete it (it's a simple lock box; they explain that I need to turn the dial to the numbers that I want to enter, then press the key, and the lock box will open if I'm correct). After the first time, you'd think I'd understand how to work the lock box and that would be that. That I can leave it and go try to find something else, then come back and try again without having to sit through the instructions again. Apparently not. Bah.
This is not a kid's game. There's no need to treat me like one.
Not going to stop playing, however. I'm interested in seeing how the game pans out overall.

Playing Wild Arms 2 because I'm kind of in a nostalgic trip to play a bunch of PSX era JRPGs, and playing Super Meat Boy because I'm going to go see Indie Game the Movie on Friday and there's going to be a Q&A with the directors of the movie and the creators of Super Meat Boy...so I must become bffs with them.
This also has caused me to kinda start using Steam, since I own every Humble Indie Bundle but have never really actually downloaded any of the games or anything like that. So I used my Steam Keys which is far better than just downloading every single game. I also discovered I apparently bought all of Back to the Future at some point on Steam, so go me.

Still playing Rayman Origins and making good progress. I might be able to earn my first Platinum off of this game, assuming I can manage all the time trials.
EDIT: And if I can beat the murderous hidden level I just unlocked...

I tried to play a sneaky style character, but most encounters just devolved into me rushing enemies and hacking away with my daggers. My Stealth skill was too low to get very many sneak attacks in, and you can't crouch while using a bow, so no ranged sneak attacks. =/
After looking at the different "Destinies" and whatnot, I think I'd go for a warrior mage next time (which, oddly enough, is the extreme opposite of what I tried for the demo. xp)

I had my neighbor over for the first time in a while. We played some NBA Jam and lost several embarrassing games to the CPU. Then we popped in his copy of Modern Warfare 3 and rocked the survival mode for a while. He had to leave in a hurry after just a couple of hours (I assume for work or something), so he let me borrow MW3 and Twisted Metal (which he brought over, but we didn't have time to play).
As far as single-player stuff, my recent Platinum in Rayman Origins has inspired me to go after some trophies in my older games. I briefly tried the challenges in Ragdoll Kung Fu but had to write that off as a lost cause. Once I learned that Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection can do save states (and that all the old cheat codes are intact >_> <_<), I nearly managed to 100% the thing (I hate you, Mean Bean Machine...). Eventually I plan to attempt the last few trophies on Prince of Persia (2008) and Mirror's Edge.
Presently I'm working on Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time. I just need to play it through twice more (once on Hard, once through New Game+) and get a high score on a frustrating minigame. I'll also be breaking that up with some more NBA Jam.
