I've been playing lots and lots of Assassin's Creed: Syndicate
I'm really enjoying myself, even though Tara can't stand how bad I [apparently] am at it. XD I'm considering getting the season pass even though I originally passed it up.

Mind you I've never played a single Assassin's Creed game myself.

I've never completed a mainline Final Fantasy game, and I am making it my mission to change that. Beginning today, I am going to attempt to complete the first six games within the next year. I own all of them on GBA - sans III, which I have on DS - so I will be playing them on my recently acquired Gameboy Player. Following this...we'll see. I own copies of IX and XII, and I've been eyeballing the X|X-2 HD Collection. Those won't be part of my challenge, but I may just have to keep going if I haven't made myself sick of the series by the end of VI.
I'll be keeping track of this challenge in my signature whenever I can be bothered to update it. So far I'm just a short way into Final Fantasy (le first), about as far as I could stand when I was playing the NES rom 10-15 years ago. I'm running a Warrior, Red Mage, Warrior, Black Mage party.

You should just play the whole mainline besides XI/XIV.
The first three are all pretty short, just kind of hard to play.

I have completed Final Fantasy I (via Dawn of Souls on the GBA), and it is appropriately the first mainline game I've beaten in the series.
I figure I may as well give my impressions after finishing each of these games. I definitely appreciate the improvements in the GBA remake of this game, both graphically (boo black backgrounds) and mechanically (boo attacking empty spaces). I wasn't expecting much from the story, but I was pleasantly surprised at what there was. It's a fairly straightforward and linear plot with no real twists until perhaps the very end, but it lets you explore the world and feel like you're discovering things, which was nice. Overall it was a bit too easy, even without exp grinding. There were enough random battles that I was probably over-leveled just from playing the game normally. The final boss put up a satisfying fight, but some of the rest went down in as few as two turns. I did not bother with the new challenge dungeons, excepting one ill-advised romp when I tried to tackle one too early without realizing what it was. I may play this game again in the future - if I'm bored and want to try out a different party - but I doubt I'll play it to completion again.
Onward to Final Fantasy II.

First look on fallout 4.
It's a well planned game, with improvements on many of the old aspects.
The game holds up to my wishes so far and there seems to be plenty of sidequests that actually intertwine with the mainquest or work well along side it.
Graphic wise a darn good game.
Enjoying it very much so far

I’ve been playing A LOT of Destiny. I found some friends and it made the game far more enjoyable. I was apprehensive at first, since many of the online interactions I had been, “Oh wow, you’re a girl?!” I was ready to give up on it. Lucky I now raid with people who are awesome.
Dragon Age Inquisition still has my interest, but since I got into Destiny I haven’t played it all that much. I do log in every now and then to remember the controls.
I also played Grow Home yesterday. The flopping robot it sometimes difficult to control, but that makes any accomplishment that much sweeter.
I built a castle for Rose in Minecraft a couple days ago. She kept asking me for help to build pet shops and grocery stores. Every time I tried to help she would correct everything I did. SO I just built the castle while she was at school. She thought it was the coolest.

Final Fantasy II has been vanquished, which also means I am done with the Dawn of Souls collection. I have no intention of playing the bonus story at the end of FFII because frankly I don't care.
I have very mixed feelings about this game. I don't mind that it does things differently from the first game, and some of the news ideas I actually kinda like. I just wish they had been implemented better. Unlike the first game, you have a cast of actual characters with dialogue and motivations and all that jazz. Three of them are with you through the whole game, with the fourth spot open for rotating characters. This has the effect of making me not care about what happens to my fourth character, even if some of them are perfectly likable otherwise. The game also has more of a narrative than just "you must find the four crystals because evil is happening." I just wish I didn't so often have to ask the internet where I was supposed to go next because the game would sometimes either not tell me or outright lie. Exploring the map to figure it out was not an option since wandering too far in the wrong direction will land you in a random battle with strong enemies that kill you in two rounds and send you back to the title screen (I learned to save a lot).
Lastly, and perhaps most notoriously, there's the new leveling system. For those who don't know, this game has no experience points or character levels. Instead, you level up your stats, weapon skills, and spells individually. I'm fine with this in theory, but so many things about it just felt awful. The weapons are fine. Most of the stats are fine. HP and MP only have a decent chance of increase if you lose a lot in a single battle, which...bluh. HP can be done quickly if you want to attack yourself for a bit, but MP is more of a hassle, especially before you get Ethers. The problem that caught me by surprise is the spells. I like that I can get a basic Fire spell early on and keep using it throughout the game as it gets more powerful. I don't like status spells that never hit and that you have to use constantly anyway in order to raise their success rates, and even then I don't think I ever once Silenced an enemy. The most egregious issue is getting late-game attack spells that are known to be super powerful...but you get them at level 1, and they do piddling damage. I spent hours trying to boost my Ultima spell - which the game makes a huge deal about and requires multiple quests to obtain - and it was never able to outperform the spells I already had.
The game is also not balanced very well. I got to the final dungeon - I checked later, and I was already significantly stronger than a fellow who was LP'ing this game - but I died pathetically in the first or second random encounter. This scared me into grinding a bunch before trying again (making my play time much longer than it probably needed to be), and this resulted in the final boss being...not a pushover, but the fight ended way too fast. Most of his attacks did around 200 damage, which was negligible, but then one attack randomly dealt 3500 to my beefiest character. It was very confusing. (Addendum: In contrast to FFI, in which my Knights had just maxed out HP and my Black Wizard had just maxed out MP, and I felt like I was at a proper level for the last boss, I had so many stats and skills that were not even at half their max potential by the end of FFII, and I still felt like I had over-prepared.)
tl;dr Is this the worst Final Fantasy? Maybe. Is it a terrible game? Eh. Will I ever play it again? No.
With that taken care of, it's time for Final Fantasy III on the DS. Which is going to feel super weird.

Time for another quick Steam Train (since I haven't been up to Final Fantasy lately). So far...
Hotline Miami is harder than I expected, despite having seen how unforgiving it is beforehand. Played through a few levels. I can see the appeal, but I was getting mildly frustrated after not very long.
Titan Souls is interesting, if also frustrating. I like that both the player and the bosses die in one hit, and yet they somehow manage to make it difficult without being unfair. Walking back to a boss after each death is tiresome though, especially when it often takes longer to walk to them than to fight them.
Double Dragon Neon is a delight.
Colour Bind is an alright physics puzzler. Levels are short but have some clever ideas.
Diadra Empty is a shmup in which I'm not really sure what's going on. Stuff is flying around. I'm flying around. I have no idea where my health is or whether I'm getting hit by things. I think I might have a shield? And levels just kind of end after I've shot enough things? Iono.
And now I've just noticed that my laptop is running hot, so enough of that for now.

I have played a lot of Legend of Heroes: Trails in Cold Steel since I last posted.
So I'm currently jumping between that and Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. Mainly in Cold Steel though.

Steam Train!
Tengami won't load, so I have no idea. =/
Morphopolis looks kinda pretty I guess, but eh. A mix of hidden picture puzzles with other boiler plate puzzles mixed.
Metal Slug 3 is good fun, but I sure am glad I don't have to pay with real quarters to play it. I would either give up or run out of change, and whichever it is would happen very quickly.
Thomas Was Alone has some interesting ideas. I rather like the mechanics of solving jumping puzzles with multiple characters with clearly defined characteristics.
