Just blew my ears off listening to the first half of Lift Yr Skinny Fists... hadn't heard that record in a long whiles and my god is it still brilliant.

Never fails to leave me baffled and awed. How exactly do you come up with music like this? It's just inhuman!

There's music playing off in the distance. At first i thought it was the free concert going on outside but now i'm thinking it's just a loud radio.

Listened to lots of Gamelan today. Listened to 5 year olds practice Gamelan, they were awesome. Listened to Godspeed You! Black Emperor play Gamelan, which was a bit iffy. And then I listened to professional gamelan, which was pretty bland - seemed to be toned down for the tourist crowd.

Heard a banging drum & bass remix of 'pon de floor by Major Lazer whilst living it large at a Hindu temple so I've been listening to Major Lazer ever since getting home. "Vibrate like a Nokia!"

EDIT: from Major Lazer to Beats Antique to Bonobo - yeah I'm feeling pretty hip today.

Moby - Another Woman

It may simply be that my tastes are shifting lately, but I think that Moby is becoming my favorite artist.

What do I tell Bob?

/>Moby - Another Woman

It may simply be that my tastes are shifting lately, but I think that Moby is becoming my favorite artist.

So many people have said this to me lately. So many, in fact, that I suspect Moby was just way ahead of his time and the rest of the world is catching up with his aural aesthetic.

Though I wouldn't really know because I still haven't gotten round to revisiting his works. Haven't listened to him in about 10 years now.

I haven't listened to much of Moby's music, but I do like what I have heard. The only song I can specifically remember is the end theme from the Bourne movies. "Strange Ways," I think it's called.

Today I am listening to OK Computer. Today I am liking all the bleepy-bloopy noises. Every time I listen to this album it is something different I like.

Fitter Happier still blows my mind. Like a cat that's tied to a stick driven into frozen winter shit.

Riot shields! Voodoo economics! It's just business, cattle prods and the IMF!

Boy did that funny little midget man used to be able to write some lyrics or two.

I had sort of mixed feelings about Menomena's last album. I listened to it a million times, to be sure, but the second half seemed pretty unfocused and inconsistent in quality. Maybe it was partly because of tensions in the band, or...I don't know. I can't say. I'm still a bit sad that they had to get rid of their keyboard guy, but his solo stuff under Ramona Falls is pretty good, and this new track by Menomena is pretty good. So. Yeah. That is what I'm listening to.

A friend recently lent me this album on vinyl, and yeah...it's fantastic. For some reason I remember liking the first half a lot and the second half just being ok, but I donno. It's all really good. Some of the most intense build-ups in music ever.

I'm feeling a bit nostalgic, I guess, and I'm listening to a lot of old favorites that I haven't listened to in forever. Right now it's Doolittle by the Pixies. It's basically a perfect album.

Listening to Daughter of Cloud by of Montreal. It's a set of rarities/never released songs.

I can kind of understand why, but some of my favorite of Montreal songs (Psychotic Feeling/Georgie's Lament) are rarities and on this album so I guess it's worth it. Plus, I love of Montreal, so I enjoy hearing whatever I can, even if some of it is meh.

New Menomena leaked a few days ago. A bit early to tell how I feel about it, but so far I think it's pretty solid. New Grizzly Bear leaked, as well. Excited to get into that album.

There are so many things I want to listen to but don't have the time:
of Montreal, Grizzly Bear, Menomena, Bob Dylan, Band of Horses, Stars, the xx, David Byrne + Saint Vincent...

blah.

I was listening to some of the new Band of Horses yesterday, they sound just like America. It's odd, they might as well just start cover Horse with No Name (I wouldn't be surprised if they already have...)
