It came suddenly in the mail one day. You didn't even remember giving MonkeyDog your address, but there it was, an all-expenses paid round trip ticket from your house to Snowside, Antarctica, all in the name of MonkeyCon 2k15. You look up to see the sweltering heat of summer, and despite all the bad things you've heard about the previous MonkeyCons, and the Snowside Resort, you find yourself actually considering going.
Welcome to MurderCon III
For those of you who have played a murder game on Monkeypro before, the rules are the same, except, since apparently I have to tell you this: IT IS AGAINST THE RULES, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME, TO ASK OTHER PLAYERS WHAT I SAID TO THEM IN THEIR PM'S. This does not mean, for example, if a player gets a letter or some other item, and your character saw it, that you can't press another player about what it said/is/whatever, however, when asking such questions, first ask yourself, "Is there any way for my character to get this information in-game?" If the answer is no, it is probably against the spirit of the game to ask that question. I spend a good amount of time writing PMs for everyone, and making up a narrative for this game that is completely unnecessary, but adds to the fun--at least, in my opinion. Please do not use this extra flair against yourselves.
This is the Plot Organization and Chatter thread for [M]MC3k:RtS. Use this thread for discussing the game out of character, and for serving up rules and rulings.
This game will consist of two phases, a day phase, and a night phase. During the day phase, all characters will discuss what they have learned, investigate their surroundings, and vote on their actions, such as killing a suspicious player, or allowing everyone to live. During the night phase, everybody goes to sleep, and certain players will have special abilities that they can use, such as investigating other players, searching rooms, and killing others. The goal of the game is to escape alive with as many players as possible. I am also including other special rules that will change up the game.
When the game starts, I will randomly assign roles to each player, and will let you know via PM how to play your part. You will not know if you have killed an enemy until all foes are vanquished. Again, I'm asking those of you who die to not let others know your role.
Your only hope is, during the day phase, to kill suspected players. Killing your friends will be hard, but it is your only mode of survival. Once the villains outnumber the survivors, the game is over, and everyone dies. If all enemies are killed, then on the dawn of the day after they are killed, the survivors have won!
To keep the game moving along, each day phase will last up to 48 hours. If all players agree on an action before this time, that action will be carried out, and the night phase will begin. Players with night roles will have 24 hours to send in their actions, and once all actions are in, they will happen (almost) simultaneously, and I will post the results, beginning a new day phase.
You may use whatever means to talk to other players you wish. Anything posted in the thread will be considered common knowledge, however anything in a PM is private (Hence: Private Message). If you talk to each other in PM, over IM, or in any other out-of-forum way, consider it a whisper behind closed doors. Sometimes, I will tell you that you've seen or heard something, sometimes this will be common knowledge, and sometimes this will be something only you know. Decide carefully who you share information with. Knowing too much could make you a target if what you know gets into the hands of the enemy, but not sharing anything makes you look suspicious. Choose wisely.
The game will begin sometime on Monday. If you wish to play, make sure to post your intent here! Check back early and check back often!
Will you be joining us? What could possibly go wrong?
