Naah man, first person shooters are always best with keyboard and mouse.

This is true. When I first started playing video games I was a console man and I hate hate hate hate hated FPSs because I always got my ass kicked ultra hard. lol. The controls just didn't feel good at all. About 3 years ago a friend gave me Killing Floor on Steam and I have loved it ever since!

We've made too many compromises already, too many retreats. They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far and no further!

The Binding of Isaac. I'd explain more but I'm doing this from my phone and you can probably find my thoughts about it on this forum already.

Okay. I'll explain more.

For people who know nothing of this game, it's basically Zelda + Generic Rogue Type.

Every time you play the game the bosses/items you get on levels are randomized. The more you play the game the more you unlock. Not all of the items are available on your first play through. You also can't go to every level type or use every character. The more you unlock the deeper the game play gets, with a vastly different play style each time. All of the characters play differently, at least initially, and you'll have to play around with all of them just to figure out what is the best fit for you. The game is always hard and a challenge, since everything is randomized. If you're unlucky you'll have to sacrifice things and take risks in hope for just the smallest of rewards. The game is grueling. Until you get very good at it there's no guarantee you'll make it to the end every time. And play times can vary from a couple of minutes to a couple of hours depending on your play style and how well you're doing. There's also just a ton of secrets to figure out and things to fine. It seems very simple on the surface but it's so very deep and rewarding gameplay and (surprisingly) exploration wise.

It's so exactly the kind of gauntlet kind of game you should try.

Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is coming out fairly soon for Vita, PS4 and Steam. I might pick up that version when it comes out.

So for what it is worth, I totally recommend Rogue Legacy.

It may be a rogue-"lite", but there is a bit of challenge, and really, you can self impose your own challenges as well. Like there's one character type that has to play upside down. It can be a bit disorienting.

I'm totally going to put a lot of time into it, and I think others should too.

Starbound- Honestly its great game. If you liked Terraria then you'd probably like this game. It's honestly kind of addicting for what it is.

Fire Emblem, Tactics Orge (which you'd like if you like FFT), the Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced series, Valkyria Chronicles, Arc the Lad, Shining Force, Front Mission

There's a lot of other NIS tactical RPGs that aren't Disgaea, like La Puccelle. Also Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor looks really interesting, but I haven't played it.

Bahamut Lagoon is also lots of fun. It's kinda like Fire Emblem.

Man, I would love another handheld Tactics Ogre that was as good as The Knight of Lodis...

So on a whim I decided to poke around in the Wii Shop Channel, and it turns out I have 1400 points that have been sitting there for who knows how many years. Are there any games on there that you have tried and enjoyed enough to recommend? I'm considering the original Sin & Punishment (1200 points), but I thought I'd ask around for suggestions before I spend anything. Preferably something that's not also available on Steam or PSN.

If you like Final Fantasy and city-building/tower defense games the My Life as a King games are really fun. I wish there was more of it.

I'll consider those. I also found some Top 10 Wii Ware lists on YouTube, which I found mostly disinteresting, but I did learn of a game called FAST: Racing League. It looks like F-Zero with a bit of Ikaruga color switching added in.

Though I never completed Sin and Punishment, it's definitely interesting. If you think you might be in the mood for a shoot 'em up, go for it.

I used to enjoy the first game back in the day. Definitely a little dated. The last few times I tried to replay it (though this was a few years ago), I had some trouble getting interested. And the story of the game doesn't actually have an ending, without the sequel, anyway (And I could never bring myself to complete the sequel...)
