So what's next, NetherGuy? Will there be a poll to pick our respective favorites? Will you be judging since you didn't submit an entry?

I didn't submit one because the default decision is for there to be a judging. If we do a poll instead I have a character ready and would gladly submit it then as I would not be a judge. I leave it up to you guys to decide as we de say we would decide later and it is now later. How convenient!

HERO

Super Name: Hull-Down

*Civilian Name: B5AD73 / Bradley

Super Power / Ability(s):
  • Armoured Skin – Extremely resilient and think skin that has the same properties of tank armor. Makes him invulnerable to gun fire and and most impacts. It also protects him from the backlash of his explosive attacks.
  • Explosive Punch – Bradley can release a powerful, controlled explosions from his fists. He uses this in three different ways. The most basic is that he can punch something, damaging it with the explosion. He can also punch something to launch it like a projectile fired out of a cannon. Finally he can focus the explosion to send out a powerful shockwave from his fist that goes out several yards.

Weakness(s):
  • Swimming – Due to his skin being akin to tank armor, it makes him rather heavy and dense. Because of this he cannot swim and will quickly sink until he hits the bottom.

Age: 46

Height: 6’ 2”

Build: He is the picture of military fitness. His muscular build fits him perfectly with his broad frame.

Appearance: Bradley keeps a clean appearance as would be expected from someone with an extensive military career. He keeps a traditional high and tight military haircut which makes him stand out as being part of the military. A little less traditional is the horseshoe moustache he has, which he grew after the recommendation that it would suit him better with his age and help him look like an officer rather than a grunt. His face has remained youthful for his age due to the process that brought about his existence. There are some wrinkles beginning to form despite this which make him look more tired than old.

Costume Design: His color scheme utilizes the colors red, yellow, and blue to tie him with the 1st Armored Division of the U.S. military. The majority of the costume is blue with the red and yellow serving more as highlights. Bradley also wears thick gauntlets to provide extra support for his arms and hands on top of his natural armor, as they are vital for his ability to fight. The costume was designed as a PR attempt to make Bradley look more like a superhero rather than a soldier. Bradley prefers his normal military clothes and will often be found in camouflaged cargo pants, shirt, and boots with the Old Ironsides insignia on it.
Posted Image

Personality: On the surface Bradley is a gruff guy who does not take any bullshit. It goes pretty far past the surface, too, actually. He is capable of being a nice guy though and enjoys going out for drinks with the few guys he knows outside of the work environment. When people talk with him they generally describe Bradley as simple and articulate, taking his time to say what he wants and getting straight to the point. He's not one for the flashy or extravagant and is everything a recruiter would want for a poster boy.

Ambition / Goal(s): Bradley is serving the will of the U.S. military, whatever that might be over the years. When it gets down to it he wants to protect and serve the United States and its people and so far this has never come into conflict with his orders by the military, though it has come close. Whatever has to be done to protect the U.S. and usually his superiors tell him how to do that.

Origin Story: During the Johnson administration the Vietnam was raging on and Bradley was a result of trying to create a swift end to the war. Super soldier programs had existed before and one of them was reactivated to create a the ultimate soldier and symbol of military might. Through the madness of science, Bradley was engineered in the lab and infused with genetic enhancements that made him as tough as a tank. The project had run with the notion of creating a living tank, giving Bradley the ability to generate explosions through his hands. As he was the culmination of science, Bradley was born with the serial number B5AD73. The process did not create a complete solider instantly. It took Bradley 10 years to reach the equivalent of 25 years. Toward the end of this 10 year period, Bradley began basic military training as well as learning how to utilize his inherent abilities. As his training was coming to a close, so was the war he was expressly designed for. Instead of rushing him to the field, the higher ups decided to turn Bradley from a supersolider into a superhero. He was deployed by the military to act as the superhero spokesman of the the U.S. military over the next three decades. As the U.S. government and military are always suspicious of powerful organizations like the League, they have begun working on getting Bradley in.

While Bradley has always been deployed and fought on the behalf of the military, he does consider himself a superhero without their help. He has gone off moonlighting solo to save the day without any orders or his uniform. For most of his life he went by B5AD73 and eventually Hull-Down. It was not until recently that he was given the opportunity to start living a limited civilian life. His superiors wanted to improve his relation with the people, but Bradley snatched it up as an opportunity to live an American life. He has not done anything extravagant with his life outside of being a hero, wishing to just remain a good soldier and part of the American pie.

Other: Possesses familiarity and training with a wide array of firearms and weapons as per his military training. He doesn’t really like the spandex of his costume and thinks it too flashy.

As a friendly reminder of anyone who has been following this, anyone can vote regardless of whether you submitted a character. In fact, I encourage it. Rather than create a poll, I want people to send in their votes to me via PM. In addition to this I want people to submit their First, Second, and Third choices. This way ties can be broken and it ensures that if someone like Character A the most, kind of B, and hated C, but A loses outright, at least their vote will go to support B instead. Also no voting for your own character if you submitted one.

You have until May 29 [Tuesday] to submit your votes.

Oh, and since we are doing voting and not judging, I whipped up a character. What did I tell you about turning things in late. ;):

So that Brushules might possibly fall in battle to a worthy opponent? I bet a human tank could work well to that end.

Ugh, this will require some thought. My favorites keep changing each time I look at the different profiles. xp

The polls are in, the votes are counted, and the winner is...

Lady Emerald!

This villain entry has swooned voters with her aromatic charm, sexy figure, and clever background. Let's all give her a hand, along with her master creator, Stars!

Voting was close with this first contest, coming down to the wire. Wish more people had submitted votes as the majority were people who made characters. I was hoping other people on the forum who, while not interested in making a character, would still like to chip in. I hope everyone had fun with the first Character Creation Contest. Go ahead and discuss what you liked about the contest, what you would change, the characters, etc. If people want, I can post how well the other characters did (2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.) Other than that, this concludes the first CCC!

I am rather curious how the other characters fared.

And I was going to comment that it might be easier to vote impartially in the future if the entries are anonymous, but after thinking about it, I doubt it would affect anything. Some of us are famiar enough with each other's writing styles that we'd probably be able to tell whose is whose anyway. xp

Extremely late to the party, but I figured I'd throw in belated nod to the contest. (I hope I catch the next one!)

Super Name: Electrocusean
*Civilian Name: Sean Wattkins
Super Power / Ability(s): Ability to induct electricity into any object/person at will, granted the object is not solidly insulated/grounded. (Can't really electrically charge something that has no atomic space to induct electrons into, ya know.)
Weakness(s): Electrical insulation. Sticks and stones -will- break his bones. Falling from extreme heights. Rubber soled boots. :I
Age: 34
Height: 5'8
Build: Wiry. (Oh ho ho! A pun!)
Appearance: (See attachment)
Costume Design: (See attachment!)
Personality: Has a friendly disposition, very social. Loves to go out and party/make new friends. Also very patriotic.
Ambition Goal(s):[/b] Sean wants to discover how to harness his power and create a clean/unlimited energy source for the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! He
also wants to pass the Master's Electrician written test.
Origin Story: Sean was a humble electrician working in his local IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) union. One day while out on a call, a power line went down in front of Sean's truck! He swerved off the road and into a dtich, narrowly avoiding the falling pole, but one of the lines landed on his truck, turning it into an energized deathtrap, but instead of frying Sean to the seat inside the cab, the electricity instead turned him into a walking electric conductor! He can now channel, conduct and induct electricity at will, and thus was the hero ELECTROCUSEAN BORN!
Other: Likes boobs and booze!

I don't think that's really necessary, anyway. At least not yet, since right now most everyone whose participated (mainly, you, me, kamau and fox) talks fairly regularly, so we'd probably just end up telling each other anyway. :P

The only thing I would change would be adjusting how many votes we get based on how many people submit entries.

For instance, this round there were five people who submitted entries. Since I can't vote for myself, that leaves four possibilities. And I get to vote for three, which means only one person gets left out. ): Kind of makes me feel like a jerk. XD

Congrats, Stars, and welcome to the party, Odon!

Can't wait for Round two. :)

The voting system was in case more people voted so ties would be less of an issue. With the low number of people who voted and character entries it was a bit of an overly cautious move. I wanted it in case of a scenario such as: Character A gets 3 votes, Character B 3, and Characters C & D 1 vote. Obviously C & D aren't winning, but the people who voted for them had B as their second choice. So the votes for C & D go to B now, giving them 5 votes and the win. Character B had 3 normal votes and 2 second choice votes, while A only had 3 normal votes and no one had it down as a second choice. Eh, overly complicated and probably won't do it next time.

As for the standing of the other characters:
#1: Lady Emerald
#2: Hull-Down
#3: Scholasticus
#4: Brushles
#5: Xerox
#6: The Doctor

It actually came down to my vote and had I not voted for Emerald at all there would have been a tie.

And thanks Odon for the submission. It shows that there are other people interested in doing these quick character creations.
