Sorry this is so late coming. I got a little lazy when trying to think of a good, first theme for this, The Character Creation Contest! or Triple C, 'cause nicknames for non-human things is hip and trendy with the young folk, right? At first I wanted to do a standard fantasy theme for the first one, but I didn't want to do a bland 'It's magic!' and couldn't think of any good environments without just saying something like 'It's set in the D&D world' or something. Trying to do a standard first contest is too main stream anyway. So in honor of me watching the entirety of the TV show Static Shock from my childhood last week, the first theme shall be:

Super Heroes & Villains!

"It's an exciting world we live in. Mostly due to dozen or so asteroids that come hurtling toward the Earth every week, mad geniuses trying to take over the Earth with robots, and parallel Earth's clashing with our Earth. There are so many incidents happening all over the Earth that the League of Justice has decided to expand! They are looking for Superheroes to join their ranks and help protect the world from all sorts of dastardly acts and nefarious schemes. The League of Justice is taking heroes of all sizes. And they mean that literally, too! Super strength, super speed, super smarts, they need all the super help!

Yet within the deep underbelly of crime there is an equal recruiting campaign taking place. The Society of Injustice is recruiting twisted minds and evil doers to team up with them. They, too, are taking all Supervillains they can find, from bank robbing bandits to planet crushing brutes. All they ask is that you help them amass fortune, fame, and world domination. Oh, and you must have a maniacal laugh of course.

No doubt these two forces will clash soon as their numbers swell. It will be a titanic battle that will shape the course of justice and evil in the world. Let's just hope some secret force is not lurking in the shadows, waiting to pounce on the League of Justice and the Society of Injustice when they are both weakened. But that would only happen in a comic, silly!

Which side will you choose?"

This might be tweaked as we go along. I am now realizing I had no clue how to make a character sheet. Trying to not be too specific so there is plenty of room for creativity and personal touches.

Hooray for Static Shock. Except now I'm going to be dubious about writing up an electric super hero even though that's one of my favorite types of powers. xp

Haha, I wouldn't worry about it. If this goes to judges, I wouldn't be the only one. Just don't make him a black electric superhero. There are already two of those in the DC universe :/

Two quick, related questions:
Can we submit characters that we've previously used in actual role-plays? (I'm assuming no, but I thought I'd ask.)
Can we submit characters that we've previously conceptualized but never used? (This is my main question.)

EDIT: Also, where should we submit our sheets, this topic or a PM?

EDIT 2: I thought of a couple additional items to suggest for this theme: Weakness (e.g., Kryptonite, the color yellow, speaking your name backwards) and Goals (e.g., revenge, fame, power).

To the first question I am going to say you can, but we encourage creating new characters. If you have a character that was never used this is probably a great place to do it. I have no qualms with it.

For submissions I was going to say just post them here in the topic. If you want to be secretive you can PM it to me. I personally don't see the need to hide them, but I leave it to preference with mine being posting it.

Adding those two. I had thought Goals would pop up in Origin Story, but placing it as a separate area to make sure people include it.

I'll post mine now while I'm thinking of it. I don't want to forget after making a point of reminding everyone else. xp

Super Name: Lady Emerald

Civilian Name: Mirabelle Mèraud

Super Power / Ability(s):
  • Pheromone Sense: Lady Emerald is able to "smell" certain emotions and reactions from people. Scents she typically picks up include anxiety, dishonesty, and infatuation.
  • Pheromone Control: Lady Emerald is skilled at controlling people with a combination of her own pheromones and body language. Even people who "prefer men" cannot resist her for long. She typically focuses this ability on a single target, but with enough effort, she could indiscriminately grab the affections of a large group.
  • Weapons: Lady Emerald carries a gold-plated, four-shot Deringer pistol, typically hidden away in her handbag. She does not possess superhuman accuracy or any other related abilities, but she is a competent shot. If she anticipates a need for it, she will also carry a gold-plated MP5 submachine gun on occasion.
Weakness(s):
  • Strong Odors: If Lady Emerald is exposed to any kind of powerful smell, it will block her ability to smell people's emotions. If the smell is particularly foul, it will also cause her physical pain. She is still able to send out manipulative pheromones, but her ability to control people in such a state is severely limited.
  • Homophobia: Lady Emerald will not use her Pheromone Control on multiple victims if there are any other women present. She once infatuated a pair of lesbians by accident while doing this, and she wishes to avoid a repeat of that incident.
Age: 27

Height: 5' 8"

Build: Voluptuous

Appearance: With an hourglass figure, long and wavy jet black hair, and bright green eyes, Mirabelle was sought after by many men even before she acquired her powers. Her favorite color, green, is always evident in her outfits. Even her lipstick and nail polish are usually green. Her clothes always look expensive, and she often wears emerald jewelry.

Costume Design: Lady Emerald does not have a single, consistent costume. For operations in broad daylight, she wears a variety of green dresses along with an ornate masquerade mask if necessary. For sneakier tasks, she has a dark green catsuit that shows off just enough skin to aid her manipulative powers if they are needed.

Personality:More than anything else, Mirabelle Mèraud is a narcissist. She loves to have other people do things for her, and she complains incessantly when she doesn't get her way. She enjoys the attention she gets from men, but she has no interest in any kind of relationship (unless it benefits her somehow).

Ambition / Goal(s): Lots and lots of money

Origin Story: Mirabelle was born rich. Everything she ever wanted was hers. Until the asteroids fell.
When Mirabelle was old enough to pursue a career...she didn't want to. But she did eventually get into the business of manufacturing and selling perfume. She enjoyed being able to order any sort of concoction and sample it liberally.
Then one day when she was hosting a small party with an exhibition of various perfumes and cosmetics, one of the weekly asteroids crashed into her property and demolished most of her house. Shortly after, all of her factories and warehouses were destroyed in similar fashion. Before long, she had lost everything and was forced to declare bankruptcy. Her perfect world was gone. But not for good, not if she could help it.
The first impact at her home had caused something to change in her. Perhaps it was due to some kind of cosmic radiation from the asteroid combined with all of the powerful perfumes that filled the air. Whatever the case, Mirabelle had acquired a new power to control people, and she was determined to use it - and any other means necessary - to regain her former wealth. And then some.
After learning of the Society of Injustive, Lady Emerald manipulated her way into the top ranks by taking it in turn to seduce the highest ranking leaders she could meet, starting near the bottom and working her way up. She uses their resources as often as she can to orchestrate bank robberies and whatever else she can think of that is likely to net her a lot of money.

Meta: The concept for Mirabelle Mèraud was inspired by the old rumor that green M&Ms are an aphrodisiac (as well as the subsequent green M&M mascot).

Super Name: Xerox

*Civilian Name: Darian Eberhard

Super Power / Ability(s): Darian has the ability to use other peoples' powers, as long as he's seen the power in use. He is effectively able to "store" a small number of powers within him, and they are ever-changing because, unfortunately for him, he has no ability to control his "copying ability".

Note: Darian's ability to copy powers is limited to two at a time, and he is able to use them until another power takes their spot. Which could happen either right away or not for a long while, depending on who's around. Certainly makes it an interesting time trying to learn to handle any powers, that's for sure.

Though he can use them immediately, Darian doesn't always know which power he ended up copying (especially if there are multiple used at the same time) and has to figure that out before he can actually use it. On top of that, he doesn't have much control over them aside from the basic principle of "point and shoot", at least if that's how the power could work on a basic level.

Weakness(s):
  • As stated above, Darian has no ability to control what powers he absorbs, nor when. (Well, he does, but he'd have to know that a super hero or villain was going to use the powers, and then he'd have to close his eyes or look away or…something if he didn't want the ability.)
  • "You have to see it to believe it." Or, in Darian's case, "you have to see it to be able to mimic it."
  • Darian's ability also comes with the unfortunateside effect of powerful headaches or dizzy spells if he comes in contact with too many power too rapidly for him to handle. The severity of these spells depends on how many and how fast.
Age: 19

Height: 5'4"

Build: It's not that he's scrawny. Darian just…can't seem to build muscle past the point where it doesn't look like he's starving himself. Don't talk to him about it; it makes him grumpy. …As does the fact that he can't grow facial hair.

Appearance: Dusty blonde hair that falls to just above his shoulders, and is cut in layers that naturally (or stylishly…though Darian won't admit it if you ask) angle to the left, especially his bangs that drape down to barely brush his eyes. Bright hazel eyes. A few light freckles here and there – nothing too obvious, unless you're looking for it. Often wears a brown pageboy cap. Has an overall sort of childish look to him.

Costume Design: Despite this being a childhood dream –or perhaps because of it – Darian has never been able to decide on what his superhero outfit would look like. When the time came to don one, is his excited haste he kind of just grabbed the first few things to catch his eye, which ended up being his pageboy cap and a dark brown trench coat, which hangs down over jeans and whatever shirt he happens to be wearing that day.

Personality: Darian isn't necessarily a loner…he just doesn't always like hanging out with people. He has a wide range of interests –or a severe lack of them, depending on how you look at it. He helps out at theschool paper occasionally, and jumps from hobby to hobby at whim. Whateversuits his fancy, or catches his eye. People seem to think he's rather scatterbrained, given how often he spaces out during a conversation, but he's actually quite observant – just not of the things you'd expect. He might not notice if a girl got her hair cut until a week has passed, but he'll notice immediately if something is out of place in his room – which makes things miserable, having a roommate in college. Around his idols, however, Darian is eager to please.

Ambition / Goal(s): To become a super hero. He…hasn't really thought past that yet, honestly.

Origin Story: Darian has wanted to be a super heroever since he could remember. He was your stereotypical fanboy listening to every tale of Batman and Superman that he could get someone to tell. He watched all the documentaries, read all the papers, kept all the clippings. He dreamed of being the next "Boy Wonder", going as far as to occasionally cross out Robin's name in the papers and replace it with his own. "Darian, Boy Wonder". What a ring!

But childhood fantasies can only take a person so far…and, like many, Darian eventually fell victim to the embarrassment that comes with classmates mocking you for your hobbies. After middle school, he stopped inviting his friends to his home because, though he stopped talking about becoming a super hero among his peers, he couldn't bring himself to take down the newspaper clippings and pictures adorning his walls.

His parents seemed relieved that his "childhood obsession" had finally tapered off…but in reality, Darian was just biding his time. When it came time to picking a college, he picked the closest one to the city of the League of Justice's headquarters. It was as close as he could be to his dream without being obvious about it. He was your run-of-the-mill student. Nothing outstanding. He studied, went to class, went to the gym when no one else was around, and quietly went home after discovering that, once again, he hadn't developed super speed overnight.

When the word went out that the League of Justice was seeking new heroes to join their ranks, Darian jumped on the chance to finally fulfill dream. However, a dream like that is a hard thing to fill when you…don't have any superpowers. But hey. Batman didn't have any real superpowers. Neither did Robin! Darian was determined to join the team, no matter what it took, and, well, perhaps the League realized that, because they finally allowed him to start doing little things around the building. Small things, like running coffee or keep things in order. Almost like an intern, but hey, Darian won't be complaining anytime soon. All he knows is he's here now, and if his time in college so far has taught him anything, it's that everyone starts at the bottom and works their way up the chain.

And maybe one day, he'll actually get to watch them train, and maybe even practice with them! Then again, he'd probably die ofhappiness before making it there...

Other: Let it be known that Darian's power hasn'tactually been discovered yet by the League. Or by Darian. (That, or they are recently discovered. It would depend on what point a possible RP took place.)

Super Name: Scholasticus

Civilian Name: Toby Tailor

Super Power / Ability(s): Super Strength, as well as numerous gadgets he built himself.

Weakness: His younger sister, Tara.

Age: 23

Height: 5'11"

Build: Slim, sinewy.

Appearance: Short brown hair that's spiked somewhat, light brown eyes, kind of pale. When he's not out as a superhero, he tends to dress and look kind of nerdy.

Costume Design: He's going for a 'super scientist' look, so he wears a white lab coat, accompanied by a red half mask, matching pants and black boots. Often times he'll have a jet pack (that he otherwise carries in a large backpack when off duty) a utility belt (which may or may not be only for looks) and cybernetic gloves (which may or may not be only for looks).

Personality: He means to do well, but his flippant and often times self-centered attitude tends to blur the line between good and 'maybe slightly not so good' (in his own words). As a result he often times will make excuses for himself so that he doesn't have to feel too bad for it.

Ambition: Currently, to get more press and fame than his rival and former best friend, The Armoury.

Origin Story: Ten years before Toby's birth, a single asteroid hit a small town called Bridge Point. It scarred the town while also making a frantic impact on the media, but overtime the damage was fixed and the whole thing was forgotten. At least until a series of strange people started popping up out of Bridge Point. One of them was Toby.
There have been two things Toby's always had, an incredible intellect and a craving for attention. When he was younger, the two paired nicely, he'd win a science fair with some awesome gadget and everyone would be amazed. But the issue with science is that, most of the time, it doesn't get much mainstream publicity and as he got older it was harder to get that natural 'wow' factor from everyone, especially when he kept accidentally breaking his own inventions. By the time he reached high school, he started to get unnaturally strong and very quickly. When he almost couldn't cope with it anymore he met Amory Allen, a boy in his grade with the same issue as him, except Amory developed his super strength at an early age, so he already knew how to control it. As Toby learned to control all of his abilities, Amory had the idea of becoming a super hero duo. Though, the idea ultimately fell apart when he kept insisting that Toby be his sidekick. While they were best friends for years, their egos kept clashing and they eventually grew apart during their college years.
Toby had scarcely thought about him until every news source was bombarding the country with pictures and articles, declaring The Armoury to be the best super hero on the scene. Toby had, before then, put his own super hero career on hold, but with the sudden fame Amory had found, he couldn't let himself be outdone. After all, while Amory had super strength, he knew his intellect was vastly superior.

Plot Synopsis: Just as he started to gain some acclaim for his own heroics, his parents passed away in a strange car accident. Their car was found after what appeared to be a heavy impact, though there was no sign of what they could have hit and with nothing else to go on, it was decided that another driver must have hit them, but then fled the scene. He ended up having to take responsibility for his teenage sister, Tara. She didn't have any super powers like he did and if he wanted to continue his career he had to take a lot of care not to let his identity be found out, unless he wanted to risk her getting involved. Despite the numerous precautions he took, his identity was leaked less than a year after she moved in with him. By that point it was too late to quit the super hero business, the most he could do was protect his sister while trying to figure out exactly how his enemies found out and if this is linked to his parents' death.

Asteroids! Everywhere! Ahhh!
Also, I added the plot synopsis, since this character was originally from a story I'd been writing a few years ago. There's a lot more to his story than just his sister dilemma, but I figured it was important to put in there since it shows jsut why she's weakness to him.

So...I kind of went and made a second character... XD
---

Super Name:
"The Doctor", usually just shortened to "Doctor"

*Civilian Name: Elizabeth Maverick

Super Power / Ability(s): Elizabeth has the ability to diagnose any illness or injury on the spot, and, should there be the time and place, her operations have a guaranteed success rate. In order to diagnose what's wrong, Elizabeth simply has to concentrate on the person she's looking over – meaning she has to be in sight of them – and the diagnosis comes to the front of her mind. When she's operating, it's as though her hands take upon a mind of their own, and know instinctively where to go.

If time is of the essence, Elizabeth also has the ability to take on part of someone's pain, to effectively share it with them, though she won't do this unless it's absolutely necessary. It might make diagnosing them easier in the short run, but in the long run it can become a bit of a distraction… She can take on any amount of pain from them that she chooses to handle, but even though no one else can see the afflictions, it affects her just as it affects the person she's sharing them with.

Weakness(s): Elizabeth always feels the pain of those she's diagnosing, though what she feels is a diluted version of the actual thing. She has to concentrate on a person in order to determine what's ailing them, and it's at that point where she begins to, so to speak, share their pain. (Note: This is not the same thing as when she chooses to take on their pain. This is a muted version of it that she has no ability to limit.)

Elizabeth's desire to help people stems partially from a compulsion she has to help them. On the off chance that she notices someone with an ailment and doesn't help right away, the muted ache or pain will actually grow until she finally goes to assist them.

Age: 26

Height: 5'6"

Build: Average, fit. Elizabeth is light on her feet, and doesn't overly care about showing off her figure.

Appearance: Elizabeth has dark blue eyes and copper blonde hair that is fairly long due to a lack of time or desire to have it cut. It falls midway down her back, and she often leaves most of it down, though she pulls back the parts at the side of her face to form a sort of half-ponytail. Occasionally, when she doesn't want it to get in the way, Elizabeth will pull her hair up mostly into a bun, and messily braids the part that doesn't want to fit.

Clothing wise, Elizabeth alternates between skirts and slacks depending on what she has planned for the day. These are coupled with a button-down collared shirt, the color of which also varies though she tends to be drawn to lighter colors – blue, in particular. While working, she dons a tan lab coat, but you'll never see her carrying around any standard doctor's tools. After all, she doesn't really need them.

Costume Design: What costume? Elizabeth is a doctor, not a super hero. A costume would just get in the way...Though she may secretly enjoy playing dress-up now and then.

Personality: Often quiet spoken, Elizabeth becomes blunt and to the point when it comes to diagnosing an injury or illness, developing a sort of "take charge" attitude in the face of suffering. It's not unknown for her to walk right up to someone and casually pull them away from whatever they're doing, just to make sure they know what's wrong, especially now that she has a degree backing her up.

Elizabeth feels obligated to help when she sees someone suffering, but there are times when she purposely avoids crowds and other large groups of people because she knows that if she enters it, she'll notice that someone is coughing or walking with a limp, and she won't be able to walk away without helping.

Ambition / Goal(s): To ease suffering and help asmany people as possible.

Origin Story: Elizabeth hails from the town of Oldkirk, a small place that's been around for a while but hasn't had much going for it…until Elizabeth came around. From a young age, she had always been good at knowing when someone was sick or injured, though she wasn't able to tell exactly what was wrong until she went to college to develop a medical background. But that comes later.

As a child, Elizabeth was thought to be sickly, or at least clumsy, because she always seemed to be suffering from some sort of ache or pain. As she grew older, she her ability to hide these aches grew, but what didn't change was her uncanny knack of pinpointing someone who was sick or hiding an injury – and on the playground in elementary school, who was faking one to get out of class.

People thought her "diagnoses" were amusing at first, smiling and nodding as they let her play doctor, but slowly, it became clear that Elizabeth actually knew what she was talking about, even if it didn't sound professional. The townsfolk began coming to her, to have her tell them what was wrong, to the point where she was losing her chance at a normal childhood. After a few years of tolerating this, her parents finally decided to move. Their decision to move was a necessary one, but difficult for Elizabeth particularly because her parents insisted that she stop calling attention to herself. Not helping people is something she's absolutely awful at, and though she tried her best, it wasn't long before the rumors started up again.

College was the first place where Elizabeth could truly excel in her art. She learned the names, the symptoms, the treatments. She learned to be professional, and, more importantly, she came out with a degree that could allow her to actually treat people, rather than suggest that they go see a doctor. Now, she was the doctor.

Unlike many, it was the League of Justice that actually approached her to join their ranks, rather than the other way around. Word of her ability had spread, and even superheroes can use a great doctor intheir group. Seeing it as a chance to help countless more people than she could in an office, Elizabeth accepted.

Other: Elizabeth has become extraordinarily good at hiding when she's feeling pain.
