Portal is available for free download as long as you have a Steam account (which is free to create) until May 24th. :) I'm excited, because Portal is awesome.

Why for not like steam?
I've never liked having to run authentication on a game I've purchased. It's an annoyance to me.
I have to log into steam to get to my steam account to get to my purchases to get to a list of games
to pick the game I want to play.
I used steam maybe twice in the past, so I really have no recollection except a profound sense of
distaste for it. If the reason I stated for it is wrong (IE: Their system DOESN'T run like that.) then
kindly ignore this post and just replace it with the same reason I don't like MAC computers.
I don't have a reason. I just don't.

Back in the day I was using Linux there were all sorts of problems with 3D Acceleration on ATI, which prevented any 3D games from being able to run. Things have changed it seems.There's always been gaming on Linux, just not support of mainstream games.
I wanted orange. It gave me lemon-lime...
