I can't even play any other video games right now. I can't pick up anything to read or watch any TV shows. I want to play Mass Effect 3, but I can't play it anymore because of the ending. It's like a break up you weren't expecting. I just want to be with ME3, but it clearly doesn't care about me anymore.

Posting this here because the other topic is spoilerful.

The Mass Effect 3 multiplayer is actually really good. I think I've found something to keep me playing the game, since I don't have any desire to replay the single player.

I keep forgetting that they added multiplayer. Do you play on a squad together to complete missions? Or is it competitive somehow?

Basically it's a squad to complete missions... kind of. If you've ever played hoard mode in Gears of War or Left for Dead, or zombie mode in Call of Duty, it's like that. Except you get mass effect powers. So, fun.

remember playing mercenaries mode in residnt evil 2/3? that was pretty hardcore.

what ever happened to needing a silph scope to catch ghost pokemon?

i read this alt. theory about how Giovanni and team tocket royally screwed up by cloning mew, and needed to rile up the spirits in lavender town to be able to catch one
that wasn't a poison subtype to capture mewtwo. but that failed because they disnt have the silph scope, so they went to the game corner where silph co's 'legitimate' secret lab was to steal it.

while they were there they discovered the preliminary specs for the master ball, which was still being tested at the silph hq in saffron. seeing as how Red 'stole' the silph scope from giovanni to calm marowak's spirit, the master ball was their last hope at subduing mewtwo. but team rocket made a ton of noise there, which attracted Gary, who went kinda crazy, forcing team rocket to put the building under lockdown. after defeating giovanni, he decides that Red is the only one who can conquer mewtwo, decides to give up the chase, and goes back to viridian gym, where Red later defeats him.

Giovanni was trying to save the world from mewtwo, and red is a jerk.

What exactly is bullshit? The locking of games.

Sony claimed they were going to do that with the PS3. I kind of highly doubt it'll happen.

Hahaha, you have no idea how much I hope this is true.

First, that means that when it's released the system will have a graphics card that is already 2 and 1/2 years old. Sweet.

Second, it will also have DRM that is actually worse than almost every PC DRM to date.

Really dudes, if anyone ever needed a good reason to be a PC gamer, this is it. And no, saying that you find it more comfortable to "game from your couch" is no longer an excuse.

the lack of backwards compatibility with all my shiny expensive ps3 games. i wasn't as mad about the lack of ps2 compatibility, but i actually have ps3 games and it just casts a pall over the whole prospect. i could care less about the locking of used games, i don't like gamestop's business model, and hope they go belly up. but seeing as how they just started releasing full size ps2 games for download, why should i buy them again if i already have them? trophies? i'm not BUYING trophies. i'm buying GAMES. games that are too damn expensive anyway. if developers didn't have to cover their losses to used game sales, and could cut out physical media altogether, i still hold on the almost nonexistent hope that the $60 price point will go down.

also pc gaming fanboys are annoying and snobby. a pc is just a console with MS Word, and we all know it. also black holes

I think thinking either is superior is just plain stupid.

PC gaming has a lot of problems. Easy to pirate so companies stop even bothering releasing games to PC, lack of anything very blockbustery that's exclusive, hardware cost, no uniformity between computers which can bring about errors and whatever (I know there's a word for this but I can't seem to think of it)...

But console gaming is bullshit too, so everybody just shut the hell up.

Have any of you played a game that you haven't played in some time (years seems to work best), and started to notice odd little graphical peculiarities that you never noticed before, no matter how much time you spent with a game?

One great example I can think of is Wave Race 64. I remember all of the praise that the water graphics received, and myself thinking how good they looked. When it was released for Wii virtual console, I bought it to discover that the realistic water is only rendered a relatively short distance around the player, and the rest is completely flat.

Now I'm playing through Mass Effect again. In spite of my dislike of the third game's ending, I wanted to get the full experience in time for the extended edition DLC due this summer. Earlier today, I read this question on the Bioware forums. The answer comes from one of the developers. It was a good question considering how odd it has been not having female aliens in the series.

Why no female (alien X?)

Resource limitations. They have a very strict budget for how many different characters they can use in a given area. Some are basically free - if you have human males you have Batarians because they're humans with funny heads, if you have human females you have asari, etc.

After just a few hours of ME1, I am seeing this everywhere. Populated places are populated with similar aliens. I went in to an area involving a side quest, and almost everyone was wearing the same clothing (You could think of it like a "work uniform" I suppose, if you wanted to), and they of course all used the same body model.

See... this sort of thing wouldn't bother me, if I didn't know about it. For some reason, though, knowing the technical aspects of some things makes it more difficult for me to suspend my disbelief, for no good reason at all.

tl;dr

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
