--------------- That moment when bullshit happens when you've got all your equipment shut down, scanned the department for radiation spills, and you have 15 minutes to go before your shift ends, but then the phone rings, and you are told to do another patient.
----- Because the injections we give have a short half-life, we can't keep a stock of it on hand. It can take up to an hour to get an order prepared and delivered.
--- After the doses arrive and the patient is injected, I still can't start the exam for 20 minutes because I have to let the stuff circulate to the heart first.
----- The exam itself takes about an hour on top of all of that.
---------- When I checked the patient's chart, I saw that the exam had been ordered 7 hours prior to anybody telling me about it, and I would have easily been able to do it during my scheduled shift if I had known it needed to be done.
+ The patient was a nice enough guy and wasn't upset at me for being kept waiting for so long (without food).
+ Since I had to stay an extra 2 hours, my on-call shift later this week will be shortened.
